I know the Big bird car is a 305 5spd, I'm not sure if it was a hard top or not or even a 91 or 2, I'll look tonight. There was even a pic of the window sticker.

My order was not rejected by Pontiac, it was my dad that said no. LOL

Ouch, that hurts!

The data on Compnine says no 305 TPI 1LE's with A/C, maybe a 92 but most of them were Hawks.

If we had the VIN we could run it.

I cant find my magazine (july 92) but I do have it copied and in my 3 ring binder.
It is a JY 92 formula 305 5speed hardtop with A/C, R6P with 1LE
(the story also says it has g92 and G80 but that seems odd because g92 became r6p and g80 is included with r6p/1le)
The window sticker picture is very small and didn't copy very well.

If anyone has His contact info, I may be interested in buying it if he would consider selling.

All the 91-2 red firehawks (B4U) were 350 auto cars.

I've got a couple of the Hawk VIN's Tony which means I can pull the figures for 1992 - if I have the time today I'll get some numbers down.

Okay, here are the 1992 numbers and they don't match perfectly with the info you have on the yellow car or the cheat sheet on page one.

1LE production 1992 = 27, 17 Formulas & 10 TA's
1LE + B4U Hawks = 11, All Formulas
1LE + C60 = 11, All Formulas and all L98 and all B4U Hawks
1LE + MK6 = 16, 6 Formulas and 10 TA's
1LE + L98 = 11, All Formulas and all C60
1LE + Z49 Export Models = 6, All TA's and all MK6
1LE + CC1 T-Tops = 2, 1 Formula & 1 TA, both MK6 and both domestic

We are missing 4 cars from the numbers in the cheat sheet on page 1, 3 Formulas & 1 TA - the yellow car could be one of these and it would be the only MK6 C60 that was produced in the 91/92 series if it's for real and coded as a 1LE.

Rare cars every one of them, let the chase begin!

I've heard from Jim Mattison himself that he had helped get the Big Bird order pushed through. (not sure if he was pulling my leg or what but he knew of the car)

I'd like a 92 ttop 1LE or A/C 1LE Formula, 350 or 305 5speed combo.

1990 Numbers - No B4U Hawk or R7U Players Cup produced:

1LE production 1990 = 4, All TA's
1LE + C60 = 0
1LE + MK6 = 4, All TA's
1LE + L98 = 0
1LE + Z49 Export Models = 1
1LE + CC1 T-Tops = 2, both MK6 1 domestic and 1 Export

1990 numbers are complete - Compnine has a full data set for this year.

1991 Numbers including B4U Hawk & R7U Players Cup info:

1LE production 1991 = 106, 46 Formulas & 60 TA's
1LE + B4U Hawks = 9, All Formulas
1LE + C60 = 9, All Formulas and all L98 and all B4U Hawks
1LE + MK6 = 87, 27 Formulas and 60 TA's
1LE + R7U = 23, All TA's and all MK6
1LE + L98 = 19, All Formulas, 9 B4U Hawks
1LE + Z49 Export Models = 43, All TA's, all MK6, 23 R7U Players Cup Cars
1LE + CC1 T-Tops = 27, 8 Formula & 19 TA, all MK6 and 15 of the TA's were Z49 Export

We are missing two numbers from compilation shown below which appear to be 2 TA's that were delivered domestically.

1992 Numbers including B4U Hawk & R7U Players Cup info:

1LE production 1992 = 27, 17 Formulas & 10 TA's
1LE + B4U Hawks = 11, All Formulas
1LE + C60 = 11, All Formulas and all L98 and all B4U Hawks
1LE + MK6 = 16, 6 Formulas and 10 TA's
1LE + R7U = 5, All TA's and all MK6
1LE + L98 = 11, All Formulas and all C60
1LE + Z49 Export Models = 6, All TA's and all MK6
1LE + CC1 T-Tops = 2, 1 Formula & 1 TA, both MK6 and both domestic

We are missing 4 cars from the numbers in the compilation shown below, 3 Formulas & 1 TA - the yellow car from Musclecar Review could be one of these and it would be the only MK6 C60 that was produced in the 91/92 series if it's for real and coded as a 1LE.

Thanks for compiling this info Boss, it is very interesting and shows that in a time of large production numbers some of the 3rd gens are very rare.

It does amaze me that with over 2 million Firebirds & Camaros built between 1982 & 1992, there are still single digit cars.

I had an odd ball Firebird back in 95. It was an 84 that only had 46K on it & had been sitting for about 2-3 years when I got it. It was brown with no Tee-Top, it was a 4 spd. with posi, no a/c but had P.S., PB.. A very std. car in all ways. It was a 4 cylinder, the old iron duke engine. It was blown up. I paid $ 150.00 for it & put another engine in it as they were all over at that time. I had a hard time finding one for rear wheel drive & there is a difference, but it;s all in how the water pump mounts. The front wheel drive engine have a thinner block in the top end as the water pump sits on an angle , but what I did was make an adapter to mount the rear wheel drive water pump on it & then I had my pick of engines. But like the other engine that came in the car it only lasted about 6 months. Blew a rod out the side of the block. Well they were easy to change & the engines were cheap to so I put another in it. That one lasted about 2 months. 1 more time I said, it went in & it lasted for about 11 months. This time I sold the car. I should have kept it the body was perfect, then put a real Pontiac V-8 in it. But>>> . I don't know if it was that the car was to heavy to keep the 4 cyl. in it or what. But 3 engine in 2 1/2 years I was done with the car. But when I found the car I didn't know they put the 4 cyl. in them. But I loved the way it drove & handled. Should have kept it.

Default 1987 T/A?

Boss,

Does your database reveal how many 1987 base T/As came with the L98? Have heard it is considered somewhat rare as the GTA and Formula 350 got preference over the base T/A.

Thanks,

Jim

Jim,

Unfortunately Compnine does not include production data from 1989 and earlier model years unless they were built for export. I sent you a PM with some production numbers and a link for GMMA (like PHS) https://history.gmheritagecenter.com...n_Availability Hopefully they can provide the numbers you are looking for.

Chris

The red car got a little fluffing, some paint work & some new decals and came back home this morning. Here's the new family photo - all 1LE's.

What a cool picture and a bunch of special iron Chris. Congrat's on your vision and being a few steps in front of the herd.

I love the way you always seem to end up with a red, white and blue lineup.

I must say Mike, for a guy who always asks where my videos are, I can't remember a single one that you've posted.

Thanks Bob, not sure how long the turn around time is going to be on the investment, but I am enjoying them while I have them so that's worth it too.

Interior in the red car is nice but the interior from the other (60k mile) blue 90 is going to replace it because it is just that much nicer and has original carpeting rather than reproduction. That will be the next stage of the fluffing.
