As far as the stereo goes I hope BJ can hold a tune because thats the way I got it and thats the way its going. LOL. And yes I would love to find my first car it was a Admiralty Blue 455SD automatic with deluxe white over blue interior and it was loaded with options. Not bad for my first ride and I paid $1500 for it in1980 and every time I see one for sale I just want to kick my self in the ASS!!!

TA Nats might be on the radar Mike - got to get a few things sorted out but nothing major. Really cool story behind this whole transaction - lots of moving parts and pieces, with several cars changing hands for it to all come together.
Pat, I sing pretty good, but not in stereo. HFR, I am still on the lookout for the other one, but to think that I will have owned two virtually identical cars from the same dealership - 42 years apart - is about as close as I can get! BJ

I would just consider the car radio delete, it would be sacrilege to drown out the sound of a 455 purring like a basket full of kittens with back ground music anyway.

I look at the radios as decreative ornaments ment to fill a hole in the dash. If they work it's a bonus Both mine work in my Formula and GTO as well as the 8 track player in the GTO. The only time i us them is when I travel long distance. I would get it fixed if I still had it just for peace of mind. JMO

Confirmed with Pat that I am picking the car up this coming Saturday morning and hauling it back to Georgia! Can't wait to see it and check it out. This will be the second Pontiac I've hauled from PA to GA!
I ordered the PHS on my original Formula and have learned that these two nearly identical cars shipped almost exactly 6 months apart. The car I'm buying from Pat shipped on 12/21/73. My old car shipped on 6/19/74. Makes me wonder if Pat's car, as an earlier build, may have had the fender-mounted antenna and later production cars got the windshield antennas? How were the 71-72-73 antennas done? The 74 brochure says the windshield antenna was standard, but I wonder if that was new for 74 and didn't make it into production until later? Another neat comparison is the MSRP. Mine was $5,524.20, and Pat's was $5,506.20, or $218 less. His also has the body side mouldings on it which are not listed on the PHS - must have been added by a dealer? I'll post up some pics of the loaded car and other detailed photos when I get it back to Georgia. BJ

From 1970 model introduction, all Firebirds got the windshield antenna for the radio?
Not sure the factory ever installed a fender antenna? Possibly the late Birds with the 'CB' option may have had something else? (later than 1974)

No CB option on this car - so must have been a windshield replacement without antenna, which prompted the need to add a fender-mounted antenna.

I don't know if the side moldings ever actually showed up on PHS per-say;
IIRC they were nested within an option package...

Body side moldings were a specificly listed option (on the PHS). My old, black 72 Formula had them listed.

Yeah, njsteve is correct. If you look at the original window sticker for my old car in the original post, the option is shown there and it is also on the PHS I just got for it.
The option isn't listed on the car I'm picking up from Pat in the moring. Cool history on these old cars...if only they could talk! LONG drive from Georgia to Pennsylvania today, but in the motel and excited about seeing the car in the morning. Weather is clear but very cold! BJ
