Well the car is on its way to the new owner. Good luck BJ, I hope you enjoy that 3500lb fountain of youth. Now I hope you guys from the PY forums can help me find another car. Preferably a 74 Firebird, automatic no rust and no history of previous owner attachment.

Thanks John. It will be fun researching all the cool details about this survivor car. It is amazing!

Thanks for selling it to me Pat - glad to reconnect with a fun part of my youth. Seeing the car in your drive as I waked up to it this morning brought back a flood of great memories of my days at UT Knoxville, and early Air Force Days. I will truly enjoy owning this car.

I only made it to Burlington, NC before deciding to stop for the night. Will get it home tomorrow and start really exploring all the paperwork and going over the car in detail.

Here are some pics from this morning at Pat's house.

Nice 74 Ram Air Formula 455 that was at MCACN a couple of years ago - I can put you in touch with the owner.

Pat,
I have another 74 sitting here with NO ties to any PY memeber. It can be yours if the price is right.

Hello Jim, I would love to buy your 74SD but I have three kids in College right now so I am in the Esprit budget range at the moment.

Loving this car - and discovering its story. It came with the D98 Accent Stripe option. Well, look what I found in the driver side door and front fender! No remnants found on the passenger side. Guess I'll be ordering a set of stripes soon. Also posting a picture of the YY engine block stamp and the 7044262 Carb. Haven't been able to get the car up on a floor jack or lift to get a picture of the VIN stamp, but hope to get that today or by this weekend.

congrats on the Formula purchase... I love these cars!
The 71/73-74 L75 cars are in my opinion grossly overshadowed by the SD & HO cars...

Nice clean pic of the matching VIN stamp on the block! Love the way the gang stamp left a slightly uneven impression.

BJ,
I told you that car was a born with #'s matching. I knew that when I tried to buy it in 2001 and had to wait until 2014 to get it. I knew the guy I got it from and the guy that rebuilt the motor & tranny who is a PY member as well. There's hooker headers on it unless Pat switch them out. It has sub frame connectors and the rear end was a 308 open and is now a 323 posi. Its a great car and I wish i wouldnt have had to sell it,but I'm glad to see it went to a good home. Enjoy the car.

Jim:
You're right on all counts; What a great car! You told me I would not be disappointed and I'm not. Just sharing some of the cool details of this amazing survivor.

Would love to know more of its history before you had it. I found a lot of great documentation in the binder and folders that came with it, including the original owner's name, address and even a phone number. Lots of receipts for work he had done as late as 1991 and the odometer at that time was 85,xxx. Pretty sure this car has 121,000 original miles on it. The interior is just too nice to be a 221K mile car.

I know the original owner had air shocks on the car when he owned it because Pat showed me the hole in the trunk where the air service valve was located, and one of the receipts in the documentation which has the original owner's name on it, has a note to: "Check Air Shocks." That makes me wonder if maybe the car had wide tires on the back, with the air shocks, and perhaps a rear fender-flare kit added. That was a common day-two modification and maybe that is why both quarters were replaced and the car got painted after the original owner sold it in the 90s? There is no rust anywhere else on the car, including the trunk floor pan which is original, that would support a rusted quarter panel theory.

I still haven't gone through all the documentation and put it in date order sequence but plan to do that and build a historical time line, then try to fill in the blanks on this timepiece.

BJ
