I recently came across something in the books I never knew existed. My friend has a 65 2 door post and would like to put power windows in it. Of course there are no aftermarket kits made for the post cars. I told him I'm sure I could build the regulators if I could just see some.
Does anyone happen to know of a place where I could find the 1/4 window power regulators? They fit from 1965 - 1969 2 door sedan only. Even if I could get some pictures and measurements from a set of 1/4 regulators that would be a huge help. A few weeks ago I didn't even know such a thing existed so this is already progress.

Try Franks Pontiac parts. He usually has a few sets of power windows from big cars.

Thanks, I'll check with him but I forgot one important detail. Even though the regulators interchange in 65-69 B body 2 door post 1/4 windows, they were only offered in power in 1965 as far as all literature I can find shows.

Are you referring to the vent windows or the rear quarter panel windows? Btw, there were no 2 door post B bodies offered after 1968.

Just bumping this up. I've had no luck with anyone having ever even seen a 65 2 door post Pontiac or full size Chev with power windows. It was offered but certainly it would not be the kind of option anyone would order in a plain car such as this.

Hoping I'm understanding your questions properly? I am presuming you are wanting the 1/4 vent windows to be electrically operated.
By 1/4vent, I'm meaning the small window immediately behind the windscreen? If that's correct, then I can tell you absolutely that ANY GM B body car from 1965 through 1968 (maybe 1969?) will interchange. Doesn't matter if its a Convertible, a Wagon, 2 door post or no post. Even a 4 door pillared sedan. Doesn't matter if its a Pontiac, Chevrolet, Buick, Olds or a Cadillac. ALL those quarter vent frames are interchangeable. I have a 1965 Parisienne Convertible which I fitted power quarter vent windows from a 1965 Buick 225 Sedan. My 1965 Bonneville 4DRHT had them factory fitted as did my 1966 Grand Prix. So what i'm saying here is I think you should expand your search parameters to include any of the above GM cars. One thing I should mention is that almost invariably, you will find the diecast gears are stripped out but you can buy steel replacement gears from Convertible Services. They work perfectly. Good luck, Ian ![]() ![]() ![]()

He’s referring to the side windows behind the doors mounted in the rear quarter panels.
I wasn’t aware that power windows weren’t offered in the 66-68 2 door post cars. I know some low end models often could not be ordered with some power options even though they’d bolt in. Reason could be as simple as GM didn’t want to have to stock rarely needed things like power window punched door and quarter cards (inner door panels).

I'm actually looking to put a complete power window setup (excluding the small windows at the front of the front door) into a 2 door post 1965. Everything I have indicates they were offered for 1965 only even though if I look up the manual regulators, they interchange from any 65-69 B body GM product. As far as the power vent windows go, I'm familiar with them. In the 80's I put a set in my 66 Grande Parisienne and I just installed a set in the 66 Grande Parisienne I currently own. I've had a bit of luck finding them in junk cars over the years and although I didn't have time to buy them I just found another pair yesterday. Hopefully I can snag them next time I visit the guy.

So far, other than the part numbers for the right and left regulators, this is all I've been able to come up with, the page from the Fisher Body manual showing the power and manual window regulators for the B-11 style (2 door sedan)

I have a 69 MPC, I’ll look it up tomorrow. It’s possible that the regulators for the doors and rear windows are the same for the 2dr hardtop and the 2 dr sedan (in most cases the coupe and convertible regulators interchange).

Yes, I have the parts books and for 65-66 the front door regulator is a bolt in between hardtop, convertible and 2 door post. The quarter window regulator for 2 door post is unique and if it's power it's unique to 65.

Are you looking in a US parts catalogue or the Canadian-overseas?

Originally I was looking in the Canadian Pontiac parts book dated Nov 1969 and the Canadian Chevrolet parts book dated July 1970. Both say the power regulator was only used in 1965 2 door post.
Because I also have Canadian Pontiac parts books dated March 1966 and November 1967 I decided to check them. November 1967 says the same as the two books I mention above. The Canadian Pontiac parts book March 1966 says the power regulator was also used in 1966 2 door sedan but I suspect that was a mistake because no other books say it was used in 1966. Regardless I'm hoping to find someone who has a 1965 2 door post with power windows or might have even an actual photo of the quarter window regulator or be able to give me a lead on where I could find one to get pics and details about it.

And now I just checked the US Pontiac parts book, it says 1965-1966 2 door sedan had power windows available.
But again, I'm just looking for pics, information, measurements etc so I can see if there's a way I can modify a hardtop 1/4 window regulator to fit a 2 door sedan 1/4 window.

I am looking at my MPC and power windows were offered (US models) in 2 door post models from 1965 to 1968 which was the last year the two door sedan was offered. The regulators are indeed unique to this body style but unlike the hardtop coupe and convertible they interchange across 65 through 68.
Part number for 65-68 post 2 dr sedan regulators are… Manual: 4487975-6 (rh-lh) Elec: 9703632-3 (rh-lh)

Yes, I knew the interchange would be 65-68 (even if it wasn't offered as an option) because the manual regulator interchanges all those years. Interesting though that the US models had it and the Canadian cars didn't.
Still no luck with anyone every having seen a 2 door sedan power window car for those years.

There were many option restrictions on Canadian models that didn’t apply to US models. For example power windows were not offered on any Stratochief models. Also in 69 for example you couldn’t order auxiliary gauges, power antenna, reel out lights or cornering lights and reverb etc on Canadian models.
Probably related to low Canadian production demanding less assembly and part servicing complexity.

In your situation I would map out the movement arc of the manual regulator and compare it to the movement arc of other power regulators to find a regulator that could be made to work even if it needed to be mounted in other than the stock bolting location.

Yes, in the past I've done a couple of builds of power window regulators for vehicles by using regulators from something else (modify the mounting and the arm). I was hoping to be able to find someone who has a car with PW or at least a 1/4 regulator sitting on a shelf so I could get some dimensions from it.
