Greetings all!

Just got my 70 GTO on the road ($5000 mechanical) after sitting in hybernation for 17 years. About a year before it was parked way back when we had front suspension work done (tie rod ends, ball joints, coil springs etc). We took it out for a drive tonight and found that the front end is a bit low and lightly bottoms out over larger bumps/dips (need to check tomorrow in the daylight but might be hitting the new headers/exhaust).

Finally the question: what can be done to help raise the front end? Is it only the springs? We have rear air shocks installed. Please respond if you have an answer.

Cheers in advance. Hope to have some pics up soon!

springs are your best bet for raising the front end. there are some rubber spacers that are on the market that can be placed above the spring, but the same amount of work is involved so why not do it right?

coil spring specialties can build you springs that will raise the front of your car for a reasonable price.

i'd check the part #'s of what was installed to make sure they are correct before doing anything.

After you raise the front have it realigned. your camber will probably change.

You may also want to consider new springs for the rear.

The air shocks are not the best way to raise the rear end.

They ruin the ride of the vehicle, and the mounting areas were not designed to carry the full weight of the car like the spring perches were.

I agree with the above: New springs, shocks and THROW THE AIRSHOCKS AWAY!
