2 Days ago in my cousins 68 Firebird!!
I must preface this by saying that on Sunday afternoon, I was pulled over for squealing the tires and pulling a "California" stop at a light. We were losing light and were stuck behind every SLOW driver looking at the leaves.! I was talking fast and got out of it.
Fast forward to Monday morning. We finally got all of the pieces together. CORRECT lug nuts ( don't ask), 2 BBL removed and 4 BBL installed. Waterpump issues kinda fixed. Timing set, clutch adjusted. My cousins car must be one of the rare times that once the car is tuned up correctly it is just STUPID fast!!! All we really did was add the 4 bbl and time the car. I'm driving.... "After this corner there is a long straight-away." 2nd gear to 5200 RPMs...... 3rd gear to 5200 RPMs. Roast the tires into 4th gear.. Going over 100......... COP pulls out right in front of us............. hit the brakes, downshift to 3rd, then 2nd. Fish tail her onto a side road and "EVADE". My cousin jumps in and takes every back road imaginable to get us back to the house without being seen. Now I am jealous, because my car isn't that fast. I am not sure what it is but his car is ROCK solid performance. no hiccups no sputtering, nothing pulled to 5K rpms all the way.........

Is it safe to assume you got away? A word to the wise when getting chased by the cops never make right hand turns, always lefts.

What's the difference? if a cop wants to pull you over, I guess the cop will just do that? Please explain, so I will know what to do when I ever will be chased by a cop when I am on a vacation in the US.

IF you were on a road with more than just one car I guess it would make it harder to pick you out of the "Line-up" .
Kinda hard when you are the only RED 1968 Firebird in town. With personalized plates. I think in my situation he just said the hell with it. Dave

You always make left turns!! I've tried to get away several times supposedly without knowledge of the police chasing me in cars, on dirt bikes, and motorcycles. And the cop always got me, left turns are harder to make especially in the suburbs. If you keep making rights, he'll just find you in the circle, make a left and it will throw him off.

Right turns are easier to make then left turns. So 99% of dummies running from the police will take the right turn to try to get away. The police know this and if they lose site of you they will always look to the right first.

Back when we used to road race, never noticed one being harder. The rear kicks out the same.

Hey did you guys know the police have theses new contraptions called radio's?? They can actually talk to each other and call for back up.
I got pulled over a few years ago and the cop had an attitude. I gave him on right back (big mistake) and as he walked away, I saw him make a call on his portable radio. A second cruiser was there to back him up with in a minute. |
