Swaybar
I posted a while back that I couldn’t get my front sway bar to meet the end links. Everyone said it was because there was no engine in the car and when it was installed the swaybar could be set. That was true but now that I can get the bushings in place to tighten them how tight should they be? Should there be any “crush” to them or just tight enough to be secure

I think you’ll get differing opinions on this. I don’t know if there’s necessarily a right or wrong.
I typically snug them down until there’s a small amount of crush on the bushings. I do mean small. As soon as I see the bushing start to bulge, I stop there, Mali g sure the bushing is set properly in the sway bars eyes.

If they are poly, no crush. I would snug them up and make adjustments as you go till you find the sweet spot..
I just installed a Hellwig #55703 and it is fantastic. Fits my A body like a glove!! |

The '66 chassis manual states 10lbs, +/- 5 lbs for the end link nuts. Not much.

yeah no crushing if poly, would take a lot of force to crush poly bushings. ~10 lb/ft sounds about right.
when i install mine on a 2nd gen firebird, once you get the slop taken up with the bolt, the end links start to pull the suspension down, changing the height of the front of the car... i usually tighten just until it starts to compress the bushings, they should have nylock nuts so they dont really need torquing down. |

Does the length of the sway bar link affect the ride or operation of the sway bar.
Mine are about 2.5 inches short from all the ones I see for sale. Thanks sorry to butt in. |
