Default SSJ emblems.

Do any of you SSJ aficionados know where I can buy a fender emblem and hurst emblem for my 70? Guy lost my original. I will buy a set if I have to.

These are simply nowhere to be found. In all my years of playing with the SSJs, I've only seen one of these emblems on a junk 70 south of my house.

Years ago, a guy named Dennis Paranac quality-reproduced the 71-72 SSJ emblems (separate 'SSJ' and 'Hurst') and I grabbed a few spares for our cars, but I've never seen anyone who has bothered with the 1970 version (one-piece horizontal, SSJ and Hurst joined).

Sadly, I suspect your going to hit a ton of dead ends on this request. Your only options may be Dave Brown (booboobrown10@aol.com) or possibly Preston Grant (don't have contact info handy). You may want to also try Keith Vrabec here on PY.

Harvey thanks for the response. I got a call today from the guy I bought my old car from and he believes he has found the emblem. I'm going tomorrow to retrieve it.

That's great new and hopefully they're in reasonable shape.

Don't really know what it would cost to make reproductions, but with the rarity of those emblems, it may be worth looking at...

Keep me posted on what you retrieve.

Picked up a tote from him today that had all the parts I was missing. I was delighted to get everything. The emblems are mint shape. Ready to go back on after I repaint the car next week. This car was sold new in your neck of the woods.
Jim Harrell pontiac in Tampa! If u ever see a dealer emblem or tag from there in you travels I would buy it from you and again thanks for your time.

Great news! You're very fortunate to have retrieved them, and better yet be in mint condition. Those emblems typically pitted very quickly after the car was out in the elements, and they also broke easily at the joined area between the two bodies.

Have any current pix of the SSJ and the emblems?

Not familiar with Jim Harrell Pontiac. I moved here in 1995 and have never heard anything about them, so I guess that had closed down prior to that.

Default Harrell Pontiac

Here's where Jim Harrell was if you want to Google Map it:

Jim Harrell Pontiac, 3800 W Hillsborough Ave, Tampa, FL 33614

At some point, this became Crown Pontiac and I have a neat picture (from PY possibly) of Crown with an SSJ sitting out front of their showroom (plus some other cool cars in the lot). Picture attached.

That long-gone round showroom was a landmark around here and I went by it dozens of times, so it had been torn down sometime after 1995 (probably between 1995 and 2000).

There's a cookie-cutter Nissan dealer there now if you do street view in Google Maps...bummer.
