Default Water temp probe

How much warmer is the water temp gauge gonna read being in the back of the drivers side head over being in the water crossover? I want to keep my stock idiot light and the wiring runs to the crossover in the harness and my other port is used for the fuel injection so I can’t put it in the crossover. I don’t want the light disabled because you for one aren’t always looking at the under dash cluster and for two I don’t want the mechanical sending unit line running the length of the motor as I am trying to keep the appearance as clean as possible.

The crossover has an immediate supply of coolant flowing across the front sensor and responds immediately to temp changes. If you are talking about using one of the holes in the back of the head (like for the heater) that area is going to respond slowly to variations in coolant temperature because it is in a dead area. That back sensor would be better at reading average head temperature long after coolant temps spike.
