I just read this entire thread and am quickly becoming a RAII fan. '68 has always been my favorite GTO, and I've heard RAII mentioned sparingly but never understood what was so special about them until now.
Consider me a lifetime scout to be on the look-out from now on. GTOs are seldom seen in my neck of the woods (Maine), but I have at least three annual shows I can catch. Last year I went to a real decent Pontiac/Buick show in Merrimack NH that had plenty of Goats and at least half dozen '68s. Unfortunately, this year's show has already past and I didn't get the invite to go down there for the weekend at my brother's house. Got one coming up on Aug 4th that usually has a nice turnout. Ten miles from me. I'll be there with camera & note pad. |

I do have a lead on a '68 vert that my cousin's common law husband owns.
I just met him two weeks ago, but he's a retired logging business owner who's had a small collection of convertibles for some time. His GTO is a nice custom restoration. No telling if it has the original drive train but I'll have to quiz him on that, pending the next time I visit my cousin. I don't expect he has a PHS or BHC, but I might be able to get his curiosity up about the build sheet. I did get photos of the trim tag, as I'm always curious about the 'born as' details on special interest cars. It was originally Meridian Turquoise. Has a black gut but that may have been changed when the car was painted. I looked at the VIN, but didn't write it down. Baltimore car, automatic, no A/C so it is 'eligible' as of yet. Are there other block codes besides XW and WY for RAII GTO ? |

Nope, those are it.
Another thing to look for is they ALL had the 4:33 rear.

Non A/C and 5C build date - puts it in the hunt .
But 5C can go either way on Uno / Deuce .... Boss had a 5C Uno car. Uno / Deuce both had the 4.33 BHC Label Price breakdown is the only true verdict on a May built 347 option car. |

Saw a dark Blue RA II 4- speed GTO at Norwalk show. NICELY DONE.
Intake & heads has matching date codes. R A but no 96 in middle. |

I took a ton of pictures of it Todd - I'll post them up at some point.
Rags to riches deal for that car!

That 68 is beautiful. Not just the restoration but color looks great on there.
I may have even worn out my welcome by going back by it so many times. PAUL - WHERE ARE THE BLACK RAII PICTURES AND DETAILS??? Can’t help it - I live for this stuff.

Great to finally meet you also.
The foam seal is an incentive. They are usually only good for 8-10 years so get moving!

The dark blue is my favorite color on a 68
Probably would have went with White or Blue interior on my order. But on a second hand car , could live with the black interior. I'd like to see some pics of it on white concrete as back drop. Would be incorrect i guess, but would like to see it with color keyed wheels too Post up some .jpgs when you can Boss That car/story blows my mind oh yeh hey Paul -- Paul -- hey paul -- paul hey --- paul hey yo yo hey paul paul yo hey paul yo hey hey yo yo paul lmao lay some BHC on us bubba |

You need to get to Norwalk next year. You would have fit right in. It is weekend of sarcasm and humor with a little knowledge mixed in. Brian

Thanks for sharing those pics Boss.
Definitely has emphasis under the hood. Great to see an original appearance fan shroud in place on it. Bonus Points ! Quote:
