Default tail light bezel and lens

Any experience with the quality of replacement tail light bezels and lens? Debating whether to have mine replated or just buy repros. Any recommendations?

I bought a set of bezels and lens also. The lens were fine as were the bezels but the blacked out edges started to peel slightly after only 3 months, showing the chrome plating underneath.

I bought my lenses and bezels from classic Ind. They worked fine. I have never seen original bezels that didn't have atleast a few pits. Rechroming with pits could cost $$$.

I bought a set of the bezels and am very happy with them. Best place to buy them is from Perf Years. They have the best price on those, better than Ames and Classic Industires. Not sure about the lenses.

I've heard rumors about how the bezel is bowed slightly, and it's best to buy the lenses at the same time. Supposedly the lenses are bowed in the same manor, so fit is better. I have a set of new bezels, can't remember if I have a new set of lenses, but I can verify that. maybe someone else can chime in here, I believe this topic has been covered before...

Are the taillight repro lens correct for the '70-'72 years?
Or, are the they '73 year?

Just wondering,

George

As I recall, though could be wrong, they have a 70 date code stamped on them... Search for the previous thread, pretty sure that was all discussed....

They have 70 date code. On my 73, my marker lenses and turn signal lenses also are date coded 70 and they are original.

thanks for the link to the old thread. I thought I read about this before, but came up blank when I was searching for it last night. Looks like I can't go wrong no matter who I buy from because it's all coming from the same supplier.

I sent my original bezels in to a rechroming outfit for an estimate and they wanted...$525 to do the pair. I told them to send them back to me.
