Looking to increase compression ratio
I am running an un-modified 350 from 1973 right now. I'd like to increase the compression ratio to 9.0 or 9.5. A guy locally is selling a pair of rebuilt 17 heads and bare 62 heads. Would either be a good decision?

the #17's will put your compression more where you want it out of the box - the #62 generally have a bit of a larger combustion chamber than that of a 48-12-ect...
I know I havea set of #17's on a 400 with a 744 cam, and they work well... You could also have your #46 heads rebuilt and milled - that should get you in the vicinity of the compression you want too... If you plan on bumping compression, hopefully you are going to swap the sedate stock cam too... (I belive the 73/74 350 cam was milder than that of a 067 or 066 cam... ) Once you've got more compression, I'm told that a cam any wilder than a 068 is too much... I hope this helps!
