hey Mike -

Thanks for the kindness.

I would be interested in the magnetic version to put on the car for shows. Do you have examples of the three different styles that were used? I work in commercial graphics so if there is anything that you need related to computer generated art, I would be more then happy to assist.

Mike,

There are actually 5 logos. Two can be seen at HurstPerformanceVehicles web site. Blk trim/white band/black base and front leg of the H is gold. At the bottom of their web page is a blue and white one used for their driveline ads.

The other three (two most traditional) are the three colored or the white bordered black. The white bordered red ones are not seen too often.

Just take the one I have posted and imagine all black or all red instead of the red and black split that the most traditional one carries.

My grafics guy will do them either way.

I think the later 70's GP Pontiacs had the gold one?

Let me know if the 12"x17" units are ok with you guys.

Magnetic or vinyl transfer is how they come. Either way.

Let me know, just need a couple of days to get them in the mail.

I like the one on your car Mike.

So this is black, red with the white border? It seems to be the most common, but I have never seen a blue version of the Hurst logo. Sounds interesting....

I have to put a tape measure on the car to find out what I need as far as size of the logo. Since my car has the HO stripes running down the center body and door line, It would look kind of strange over the door, but putting one on the hood or centered on the trunk lid may work.

This is the canvas I am working with.

I'm also interested in doing racing numbers for the hood, or quarter or trunk of the same magnetic configuration and would be very greatfull if you could assist.

I see that you have posted a 510 area code phone number. I live in the East Bay of the San Francisco area. Would you mind if I gave you a ring?

thanks so much.

Mike, in conversation with Doc Watson, I asked specifically when the Hurst Equipped emblem was released by Hurst. He said it was first marketed during the 1967 model year. It could be that the emblem was available when your car was originally displayed, but an emblem never caught up with the car.

The emblems maybe never caught up with the car, but I have a had a hard time (very hard) trying to catch up with Mr Watson.

I have left messages at his shop and sent email's etc. He seems to have his own adjenda when it comes to certain things.

Do you have a line on him where he can actually be reached or have you just been lucky enough to catch him at a show with Linda?

Getting in touch with Doc by phone is a somewhat challenging task. I have visited with Doc at his office in Grand Blanc, MI several times. I live only thirty or so miles away from there. He is very busy working as a consultant/partner with the new Hurst Performance entity. He is involved with the introduction of the new Hurst themed vehicles, such as the Hurst/Viper, Hurst/Challenger, Hurst/Mustang, and several other future offerings.

I did get to see Ms. Vaughn at the Olds Homecoming event this past Saturday in Lansing, MI. She was there signing autographs and having pics taken with many of the Hurst/Olds cars in attendance. PM me, I may be able to get you in touch with the OCA chapter that puts on this show and contracts with Ms. Vaughn to appear at the event. I'm sure that they have the inside scoop on how to contact her.

Yea, I know what you mean.

After what I went through to get the wheels as correct as possible I see why they didn't keep manufacturing them.

The way they go together is a chore in itself.

An era gone bye bye.
