Default 69 Bonnieville Wagon

Hey guys i just wanted to throw up some pics of the progress i have made on my 69 wagon. I recently tore the dash apart to get the power locks and climate control to work. The vacuum locks acutally work! After i got them working i finished to putting my windows in. A couple weeks ago i refinished the gate and the dust deflector. Its coming along nicely

The only knock I have against the '69 full size cars is the rear tail end design. I really like the '67-'68 better. But the wagons are completely different a much better looking. That makes the '69 wagon look much better. Good looking car there. Looks great in black too. Mark L

I dunno, I kind of like the clean line of the '69-'70 tail... and the functionality of the two-way tailgate that was new in '69.

And it makes a nice canvas for some old school striping.

Hey, nice progress!!

Man, I think ALL '69 Big Cars came with side mouldings, but really I like how they look without 'em.

That is a nice clean look on the side. I may take mine off as well.

They did all come with the body side moldings... well, almost all. The '69 Executive wagons all came with the fake wood on the sides and of course the "wood" moldings that trimmed it. Those used the same small round front side marker lights that were on the A-body cars, while all the others had the front side marker lights incorporated into the side moldings.

You can see the OP still has the studs present to put his moldings back on, though I think his car would like really sharp without them. When I had the paint done on mine, we ground off the studs and filled the holes in the front fenders. I felt like the moldings would have really killed the look of my two-tone layout.

I really like the 'Road Warrior' look. Just don't put any zoomies on it.

Thanks for the feedback guys! That hood tach is not in the "original" spot. I dont believe that the bonnevilles of this year had hood tachs but i could be wrong. I just measured it out so that when i cut a 3in hole in the hood i didnt cut the inner structure. The car does have moldings on it now. Here is a couple of pics. Sorry they are so close i couldnt get my car out of the paint booth to get a picture.

Although I said I like the no-trim look, I think the red-filled trim over black looks sharp!

Perhaps Redline tires would set that off nicely! (Just a thought)

The other exception on the side moldings was the 69 Canadian 2+2, it used unique side marker lamp bezels without the provision to receive the moldings.

Canadian cars don't count, they had Chevy motors!

Anyone spotted this one?
Am assuming the owner made it into a 4spd.

Growing up my family had a new '69 Exec wagon with 428, T400, A/C, HDC & towing package.

I've been watching that car for almost 6 months, he's been trying to sell for a while. Price has dropped quite a bit too. Almost gone to look at it several times, but just haven't really felt too drawn. Kind of curious why it's such a hard sell honestly...

From my research, the only sticks available in '69 DarkSiders was a 3-on-the-tree, so it was probably ordered to pull (and maybe play when empty), and a later owner decided 4 on the floor was better (certainly)!

This is a page from the 1969 owner's manual which backs this up. http://www.oldcarbrochures.com/stati...Manual-08.html

Pretty sure that stick wagon was on eBay a while back and sold. Guy said at the time it was a stick conversion.

Hey its been a minute since i have posted. IM ALMOST THERE! I still have to get the front seat reupholstered, put the living room back in (haha), bumpers re-chromed, do the lower rocker moldings, source a couple of trim pieces i am missing, do the body work on the endura nose and valance, and figure out where the dead short is in my front harness! Still probably wont see the road until May or June but i sure hope i make that goal.

And to think this is what i started with!
