Default 2” Mad Dog Headers

Does anyone have a set installed on a 64-67 GTO that can give me an idea of the hole needed in the inner fender for the no 7 tube before I start hacking away; would be nice to start with a hole saw instead of just a square. They are round ports but i would think the D-ports wouldn’t be much different. Thanks-Jesse

Too many years ago since I had a set of his round ports on my 64 GTO to remember
any specifics. Sorry. Mad Dog built very nice headers (in Michigan) prior to moving south.

He just did a set of round ports for an IA2 we just built. Nice headers.

From what I have seen of his Well exit headers I recall they are like a set of Hooker super comp Round port headers that I ran some years, and they had that tube exit that way and the rap around the frame.

So you might see who is running a set of those to get sent I picture of, unfortunately I have pictures of my motor back then, but none of that side of the motor that look down low enough.

I looked up Madd Dog headers. They told me they do not make Pontiac headers anymore. The company is now in the sons hands and there is not enough volume for Pontiacs and they told me Pontiacs are a pain to make anyway. More hours building them, less profit.
But, the father who is retired still makes a few sets in the summer to help folks out.
Madd Dog gave me his number. He is done til spring.

I can see their rationale, Mark (the father/founder) said these are a nightmare to build; here are some in-process pics. Click image for larger version

I just bought a passenger side 2" RP header for a first gen bird from him and the workmanship is excellent.

Due to this thread I called Mad Dog and asked about headers for my GTO. The original owner makes Pontiac headers part time as Mad Dog does not see enough Pontiacs to make it worth their while.
The gentleman so happened to have a new set already made as a customer went a different direction. So I bought them, nice headers.

I miss the easy access to his headers (when he was in Michigan) but happy that he
is still helping the Pontiac guys out (even if it is only on a part time basis).

His headers back in the early days were real works of art.

I was talking to the fella that made these about headers and he told me a story about Warren Johnson, THAT Warren Johnson. He made him a set of headers for his car the way he thought should build them. They were un-equal length. Warren complained that he wanted true equal length headers, so he made him a set.
Later Warren apologized to him and said the first set, un-equal headers made more power.
The Headers by Ed guy tells me its all about equal length. They are 1700$ mind you.
Well, I thinks its cool to have a set of headers done by a guy who made headers for the great Warren Johnson.

Default 2” Mad Dog Headers

I had mine done by Jet Hot, top coated in satin black; it was $639 including return shipping. (Edit) They charge more for multi-piece headers.
