August of 64 would still a 64 model. 65 model 1st run was September of 64.

Plus the body build number on the cowl tag is huuuge.

Production start/stop dates compiled from Gunnell's "Standard Catalog of Pontiac", I assume for the Pontiac Michigan plant specifically:

Wiper motor date code, from earlier in the thread:

I went back through the thread and, using my double-secret moderator abilities, made all the pictures bigger (mostly for my own benefit).

The caveat is you all can't tell anybody that the admins forgot to remove my temporary superpowers.

Yup, very late ‘65 build.

At first, I needed to think about this 08B.
I was a little startled because I had never seen this.

As already mentioned above, I considered the two numbers that solved it.

1) Wiper motor date 7-65 = July ‘65
2) Cowl tag body build number is large = 53364

Chris.

I saw this car a few months ago. Whoever buys it must have a deep checking account and a solid marriage.

Teasing aside, this car is very interesting and fun to look at but it's a serious project for the highly skilled. Now where did I put my latest favorite wax, waxing and glazing more closely matches my speed :--)

Gary, When he first listed the car for sale, he was asking $46,000. When I went to see it he was down to $32,000. I told him he was still asking to much and then he offered it to me for $20,000. Its unfortunate, but the fate of that car will probably be as it is today. Sitting and rotting. The originality of the car could bring maybe $10,000 but the restoration would be $50,000 - $100,000 depending on the type of restoration. Super nice guy, but he needs to come way down on the price.

I saw the car when he was asking 46,000 and it was an awkward moment when he started to show us the GTO given it's condition and price.

My estimation is you have to get that project for 10,000 tops because you'll be seriously under water in the end.

I wanted to kiss my 2 GTO's when I got home (figuratively speaking!).
