White isn’t a bad choice. Mines still wearing the original paint along with various body shop touch ups, not everything matches that well but out in the sunlight it looks fine.
White is easy to keep looking clean and paint touch ups shouldn’t be difficult.

I like the two tone silver sides and charcoal gray hood, roof and trunk with a blue pinstripe separating the two colors. That style paint and a stock interior might be a stretch though, as a custom paint scheme usually goes hand in hand with an updated interior. Charcoal gray with a blue interior is not a good look. Black, gray or tan with the gray paint.
In your case, I would stick with something closer to an OEM silver color and blue pinstripe. I owned a Dark Teal Turquoise '65 with matching interior that looked great, but regular blue on blue is just too much blue for me . One or the other has to be a silver blue for some contrast,

I love GM Summit White an up until this Escalade every truck or SUV I have had has been that color. My wife has some input in this car and as soon as I said white she nixed it. Come to think of it she nixed the 18x9 steel wheels and poverty caps too so maybe I should nix her from the project

I’ve been looking at colors and combos and I think I could make my life infinitely easier with a black interior

Well I bought the seat covers when I first bought this car and it was just a freshen up. I had never looked at them I just knew they were two tone blue. They are HIDEOUS. After calling all over the place today starting with Ames I am now making the command decision to change the interior color to black. Actually I am happy and excited about this change.

Black & white (parchment) are fairly neutral, and allows a lot of flexibility for exterior/exterior paint schemes.
But. Choosing a not-so-frequent color, make it work in your favor, can make for a memorable combo. Even a statement at times. If you are now open to a change, why not look at all combos, since you can now have anything. I suggest to folks asking the question to starting with OE color schemes, and then look at some customs, like Boyd, Foose, Kindig, and others for ideas. Doesn't have to be the same body style either, you're looking for color combos, accents, etc. As examples: https://www.hotrod.com/articles/1964...morning-mocha/ https://www.opgi.com/interior-access...oupe-g444.html https://www.pinterest.com/pin/51017408250000233/ https://www.pinterest.com/pin/402509285436821486/ Also keep in mind that most interior vendors offer any year covers/etc in any available factory color of any make/year. .

Part of the problem is the bench seat interior. I believe there were a couple interior trim choices, the "two tone" (Custom Models) and what I call "the striped circus tent" (Base Model). In black, the 2 tone isn't so bad.
The upscale interior (Lemans/GTO), as I recall, was only available with bucket seats. It's possible that an interior trim shop could make a bench front seat out of the buckets or from a second back seat cover. They can blow apart a cover and re-sew it adding material as needed easier than starting from scratch. Another option is to go with ProCar bucket seats in the front and use their A Body back seat covers. They fit '68-'72 but an interior trim shop can make them work. I have thought abut putting them in my '71 as they have the comfort and features like modern car seating including adjustable backs and better side bolsters.

I would just go bucket seats, but realize that may not be what the O.P. wants. It would make a number of things easier.
If the floor pan needs to be modded for a 5 or 6 speed, bench seat won't fit anyway, know a few people that had that issue. You have to have the center 'loop' on the frame opened up, and then the covers don't fit right. Even if you get that done, the cable for the control to unlock the pass side track will be an issue. And you can forget the power option. If you're not going to be haulin' 3 in the front, buckets makes even more sense. Consoles look nice too. .

Shifter is in the Muncie position so no problem with the bench. Since its a Tempest I am keeping it a bench. Other than a few visual cues like the GTO engine turn metal on the gauge cluster the car is gonna appear relatively stock save for the wheels and stance. Now when its idling that will be a different thing. I dont want anyone to know with the hood closed that anything is really amiss. Plus my wife likes the bench. Didnt have to cut the tunnel for the TKO

FWIW, my car was originally white with a blue bench seat interior. The PO change the exterior to blue charcoal & changed the interior to buckets & console; parchment seat covers & door panels, the balance left original blue. It works well.

Well I ordered my Borgeson steering box and hydroboost kit today. Also sent my steering wheel off to be recast. The hard part for me is upon us, saving the money for body work. I think everything that can be done without paint has been done. I had to switch to a 14x2 air cleaner instead of a 3 inch element because the hood clearance was gonna be too tight.
I now have a question of color. How do you guys like these grays? I am torn. What’s y’all’s opinion

Silver would look awesome. Have you tried a drop base air cleaner?

Actually I take that back it has a flat base on it. I am gonna try a drop base BUT I have the fuel pressure gauge coming out of the rear port so it may not clear the drop. We will see. Ain’t hot rodding fun
