Question Brake booster hole for vacuum valve. 2 sizes?

I just got done installing a new booster on my 64 tempest.

The new booster has a bigger hole/grommet then the last 2 boosters I had. The vacuum valve is too small for the grommet. However If I put the old grommet from the booster on the vacuum valve I can make it fit but I don't really like it. I don't know if this is right. It can just pop out too easy.

I looked to see if there was another type of booster valve but the replacement was the same AND had both grommets.

Can someone educate me on this?

Where did the booster come from?

The Same CV is listed for '64-'66

Possibly wrong app booster??

I searched all over the internet. I can't find anything about the 3/4 grommet on how or why it would be used.

I noticed when I got my first booster a couple years ago that the firewall bracket were a little shorter. This one seems to have the correct taller brackets.

I have a lifetime warranty on it. I guess I will keep changing it out until I get it right.

The booster I bought for my 64 had the larger hole, found that the Chevelle used a straight valve which was the right size, so maybe
chevelle booster?? I ended up finding a NOS GM one at a Dealer. Can't take picture for as it's long gone, swapped out for Hydraboost. Sorry.

I finally took the car for a drive last night.

1st the grommet in a grommet never fell out. Still don't like it the way it is.

2nd Wow what an improvement! So when I swapped over to the dual MC, My booster went out around the same time. This was a couple years ago now. After getting it all together the brake pedal was pretty hard. Not so bad to think the booster was completely out. It held vacuum. But man now it works as I want it too. Almost a little touchy. It took some getting use to.

I don't know what was up with the last booster. If the diaphragm was good it must have been a mismatch spring?? IDK.
