68 Firebird front springs
Have posted under the 67-69 FB forum, but maybe somebody here might have an idea:
My 68 FB convertible w/ 235/60-14” tires and an LS-1 engine conversion sitting on 50 yr. old OEM worn front coils is sitting too low and smacking the header collectors (3.5” road clearance) on some hiway dips & bridge humps. Trying to pick some new front springs …and/or maybe tire size combos that might help this. [any old 60’s FB owners out there w/ 14” wheels/LS engine combos?] The LS is ~200 lbs. lighter than the 650 lb. stock 350 I had. I’d like to keep my rally wheels since good used 15” rallys are scarce/costly, but I’m lookin for some as an option. Got any idea what new front spring size would work with the 14”s (or 15”s IF I have to upsize)? Thanks ! |

Your 235/60/14's are only 25.1" tall - shorter than the OE F70x14 tires.. A 215/70/14 would be 25.85 (very close to the OE F70) or a 225/70/14 would be 26.40".
Coil Springs Specialties could build you a set of custom springs to replace your OE springs. Tell them you have the LS in place of the OE 350 and they can spec a spring to get you back to the OE stance. |

Thanks for the response, ‘Champ’. I’ll see what the company can provide.
