The way we did the one on the 1973 was to remove the hood, and LH hood hinge. Then remove the wiring bulkhead connector. With a stubby 9/16" rachet wrench, it was doable, but still a bitch.

Although the new reproduction steering wheel was a vast improvement over the junk that was there previously, there were two mold marks on the foam rim that would not clean up. I removed the wheel, masked the spokes, cleaned the rim, wet sanded the foam with 1000 grit, then applied SEM Landau black dye in several light coats. I then wet sanded between applications with 2000 grit paper. After repeating a few times, the marks finally disappeared, leaving an acceptable finish.

No problem, anytime!

I think you will be happy with the product! Also, they sent a very generous length in case you mess up. There was enough there to do 6 flares.

Cool

Working on a Hellcat Challenger for a friend. Had to take a couple of photos of it with the Bandit. While I like the 700 HP plus performance of the Hellcat, the rest of the car to me is "meh"..

I agree while it has power it is fairly boring interior wise and handles like a semi with a loose load.

They are immense on the outside, and small on the inside. While for a modern daily driver car they are OK, there is no way one would ever replace a classic in my collection.

My buddy factory ordered an 09......and parked beside my 72......it was about 10 inches taller......Then I realized it was just a sedan......with a big engine.......and a slab-sided body....to hide it's immense-ness...

A guy showed up...at our local Friday nite cruise-in....with a new Demon.......and was telling everybody about the ABSURD amount of $$$ he paid for it.....I'm sure you can buy a decent house somewhere....for less money.

I DO admire Dodge for building it......but REALLY.......that much power...on the street....is a MENACE.....especially with the drivers around here...

FINALLY, I was able to get the hood off and tackle the brake booster. I bought the booster in March of 2016. Even with the hinge and hood out of the way, it was not a small task. All of the nuts had that hard sound deadening sprayed over them. I rounded one of the nuts off, and had to carefully chisel it off. Fortunately, I had a mint spare nut, and I did not damage the stud. Another issue was I had to enlarge one of the lower mounting slots on the repro booster just to get it to mount on the firewall. No excuses for that whatsoever!

Coincidentally, the same thing came up over at TAC today. 2 of us also had to "adjust" the holes.

Looks very nice as does the MC. I agree on the booster mounting holes as I’ve had to do that on all the Inline units I have installed. Did you leave the master connected to the brake lines and just gently moved out of the way?

Thank you. I left the master connected, and moved it slightly forward.

Is that a ...309 master cylinder? All the ones I’ve taken off 77 & 78’s do not have provisions for bleeders.

Good eye. It was the only NOS Delco unit I could locate that wasn't over $400. That one is correct for 1974-76 cars if I recall. It's a CS. It's good enough for this build, and more correct than the current Inline Tube non bleeder master.

While we are on the topic, there is a flat green assembly line paint daub on all of these boosters, whether it be on an F or A body. I used Testors 1164 flat green on my Can Am, and it matched my original daub, as with the one on my Trans Am. Here is John Witzke's 11,300 mile Trans Am for reference:

My correction, the master cylinder would have been 5470409. I had the first gen mc on my mind.

I was able to obtain an NOS 10002472 shaker seal, and get it installed. I transferred the round soft rubber insert from the original seal into this one after making a long rod from an old dipstick and antenna. This is the original early part number before the version with the nylon pins.

Next is the hood decal!
