We need a clean car to test our samples on. Any volunteers?

My '69 GTO is in the middle of a slow frame off semi resto. The chassis is mostly done and the body is temporarily sitting on it until it warms up outside.
What do you mean by "Clean car"?

I could bring my '68 350 HO 4 spd Lemans if that works as a test subject for you. PM if interested.

When I got back from Carlisle, apparently the guys had secured another vehicle while I was gone. It's due here this week. If the testing of the new samples fit, we'll have systems in 6-8 weeks. If the samples need to be tweaked, that's going to add a couple of months time.

Any updates? Ready to buy. My 70 is a Pro-Touring type build so a tight system is exactly what I need.

I believe we're very close to a release date. Let me confirm. However, you may run into trouble with the tailpipes fitting. Has anything been modified in the back of the car like suspension?

You will probably have to cut 2" out of a vertical section of the tailpipe for best clearance.

What will be the final price? Any discount for Performance Years board members?

What are these systems made from? If they're stainless then cutting and welding may be difficult for the average garage installer.

The pricing is going to be right around $500.for a header back kit with X-pipe and choice of Race Pro, Street Pro or Violator mufflers.

A introductory discount would be up to our dealers. By agreement, we are not allowed to sell retail to Pontiac customers.

Stainless- Yes you are correct. welding stainless requires different gases and stainless wire.

Apologies for the necro-post. As luck would have it, I found this discussion after pulling the trigger on a 2.5 "standard" x-pipe system (SGA10). So, what's the low down? Will this fit properly on my '68 Tempest with log manifolds? I was planing a DIY install with basic hand tools, but if fabrication is required I'd just send it back.

TIA!

SGA10 is Pypes' single best Musclecar system. It's been available since 2004. If you temporarily install the downpipes and then install the system from the back forward, you'll end up cutting the downpipes(prob 6-8") for final fitment

The new system installs exactly the same way. the only difference is that mufflers tuck up higher for those really concerned about OEM height clearance.

I have SGA10V on my 67 GTO. It's been on there for 7 years and I have no intention of changing it. It fits very well.

Thanks for your response! Are your mufflers visible from the car’s side view?

Here is a pic. the minimum clearance is 5.75" and that's only because I have electric cutouts installed. Without them the system would be closer to 7" of clearance on my 67.

Thanks for the pic. I guess I’ll just have to mock it up and see.

I've had that system on my '69 with log manifolds for years. I think that installed properly, it puts the mufflers up plenty high. Here's a side shot of my car...

What a great looking car! Did you have to modify the tail pipe to get the factory style ends?
