73 door bumpers?
Hope everyone is having a good weekend. Doing a few winter touchups and have never been able to get my pass door to close quite right. With door aligned to the body and window down, the door will rattle a little as it is not pulled in as tight as it should be. I can push on door and get another 1/4" inward movement.
With window up, I can adjust everything to get a tight fit, but probably putting a little more pressure on the window than optimal. It is almost like the weather stripping needs to be a lot thicker or thicker bumper stops. However, driver side components are identical and closes like it should. These door stops stick out about 3/8", does these look like the correct ones? In the first pic, window up and lines up correct. Second pic is window down with me pushing on door, squeezing it past the qtr panel. Any thoughts? Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk

Does the striker still have the plastic bushing on it? Without the bushing, there will be some slop.

Looking at the bottom of both door pictures it looks like they are the same distance when closed. Unlike the top of the pictured doors. Worn out door hinges? Is there any play in the hinges?

The door bumpers are correct. GM still sells these new. The strikers are very important. OEM is the only way to go. The aftermarker striker bolts just don't work right. They have the allen head instead of the T-50 Torx.
The bushings, or silencers are GM 9601752 The complete striker is GM 9601750 The door bumpers are GM 20376243, replaced GM 4564974. List $1.53 each

Thanks for the note and part numbers. I did find the strikers for about $30 each, but not finding the OEM bushings. Anybody have a couple to sell?

The new GM strikers will come with bushings on them, so you don't need to buy more bushings separately right now.
The bag of bushings comes in handy later for when the bushings on the strikers eventually wear out.

The ones I bought from gmpartsdirect.com with the part number that canamman gave, 9601750, did come complete with the gray plastic bushings/silencers on them. Even the one in canamman's picture has one on it.

What's the difference between the aftermarket door strikers and the factory ones? There's not a whole lot to them, pretty simple piece.

Yes, they are simple. However, they are not sized exactly as OEM, or have the proper T-50 Torx head, and the bushings are really cheap and last a few weeks. I would have concerned if the metallurgy is even correct. These are important, safety related parts.

And the silencers that i found were $100 for a bag of 10!!!!!!! Should've stocked up on them in the 90's and you could retire now.

I guess plastic does not always age well... I picked up a set of NOS door strikers complete with silencers, which broke in half the first time I closed the door. When picking the pieces, the plastic was very brittle. I am guessing this NOS part was VERY old!
Time to search around for material that would make a good striker silencer bushing!

Thanks for the link. I also found these, which appear to be the same 1/2 x 11/16 x 7/8 size. package of 50 should last a while
https://www.clipsandfasteners.com/Fo...D_p/a18914.htm Since they are just made from PVC, i may stop by menards to see if they stock something similar. It looks like the original silencers were 9/16 ID x 11/16 OD x 3/4 long, so the Ford pieces may need a little trimming.

The Ford bushings are 1/2 I.D., so they won't fit over the 9/16 striker, unless you can hone them out a bit.

I ordered the 50 pack from clipsandfasteners and a 9/16" reamer from eBay, toal cost was about $34.
