While going through all the port-matching work on a pair of iron heads, I was happy to see that almost nothing needs to be done regarding the ports themselves of long-branch manifolds- almost perfect match to heads. But since the manifold bolt holes are so large, I'll need a way to accurately locate them on the heads- the two center holes allow .075" movement and the end holes allow .120" movement. I'm considering doing a bunch of measuring- edges of ports to reference points on heads and manifolds, bolting them on per the measurements, and then drilling for a small dowel in both end flanges. Just wondering how other people have done it.
