IMO I would say to soften the shocks....When I was running my 75 bird I always had to run with the front soft and the rear soft...just the way my car liked it, of course the track that I race at is somewhat marginal....My car was 52% front and 48% rear weight...Well anyway my best 60' with my car and caltracs was 1.37 with front 90/10 and rear 70/30 and 1/4-1/2 turn preload on both sides. well hope this helps

I've never run my Cal-Trac's with any preload, always adjusted them so they just touched the spring. But then I always had the same problem you're having when trying to launch on a 250 shot, whereas a 200 shot would hook.

I agree with dammen', if you're going to preload the Cal-Trac's, try softening the rear shocks and find a happy medium that allows the shocks to extend (rebound) on launch while still being stiff enough (compression) to keep the rear from squatting.

You may also want to slow down the rise of the front by trying the front shocks at 70/30, or if you have travel limiters, cranking them down so the front control arms don't drop as far on launch. Whatever you try, only make one change at a time.

One thing to remember is not to get discouraged if this does not work....just try something different..
