Just thought I'd let you guys know, the brakes worked great at the track. Car stops straight as an arrow from 119 mph. I also installed a line lock which I use on the burnout, and footbrake when staged. This is the best improvement on the car since I got it. Highly recommended! Thanks again Jim L.& Tom S.

Finally getting around to putting the brackets on, Everything looks like it lines up, but the bolt on the top of the bracket interferes with the rotor bolts. do I just grind the head, or countersink an allen style top bolt. It is about 3/16 of an inch that needs to clear, with out a washer on the top bolt.
Or am I doing something else wrong, I got the kit with the drilled rotors. I has the same advertised back space as the kit in the post.
Thanks for the help,
John K

It is normal to be close at that point,I had to grind the top bolt head WAY down to about 1/8" thick, maybe a little less. Then Locktite. I still have the whole assembly proceedure from Ric Johnson around here somewhere. You also need to shim the rotor out from the hub using machine shims. The ones that come in the kit from Wilwood don't fit over the 1/2" studs. I found some precision washers ,I think about .040 thick, then I also just knocked down the tops of the hat bolts a couple thousandths before the lock wire went on. I have ample clearance now, and the other issue is getting the rotor centered in the caliper, obviously. Feel free to E-mail me if any questions. Goat428@snowcrest.net

I'm still trying to come up with a master cylinder to use with this disc brake conversion. I got one yesterday from Master Power Brakes but it isn't going to fit without major modification to the inner fender and I don't want to do that. Any ideas?

Strange part # B3359 worked good for me. Minor mod needed to match mounting holes at firewall.

Oldinjun, does the Strange B3359 have ports out the right side? Did you also use a proportioning valve?

I have a template for the brackets, and I found the parts list, and assembly guide that Ric sent me. I will post the parts list this weekend, and E-mail pics of the conversion to any who need it.I'd be willing to have some more brackets cut if there's enough demand. My E-mail is a couple of posts back. Let me know.

Here's the parts list for front disc brake conversion I did on my '63 LeMans. Thanks to Jim, Tom,& Ric.
2)Earl's#63010114 flex line
2)Earl's#961603 pipe to AN adapter
2)Earl's#989543 tubing adapter
10) Mr. Gasket#4311 studs
1)Strange Engineering#B3359 master cyl.
1)Wilwood#140-0261B brake kit
Note: This is listed as a drag race only kit for ford 9" big bearing rear. I think Tom S. knows of a better rotor/pad combo for street.
After that, you'll need the brackets, some shims and safety wire. Also use a proportioning valve if using rear drums. I have the assembly guide Ric sent me if anyone needs help. This winter, I'm installing a 9" Ford rear, with disc brakes. WOW! 4-wheel discs on my '63 Pontiac!

Jim,

I tried your email but received an smtp communication problem in return. Can I get some pics? I'm interested in a purchase but would like to see them first. Thanks.

He's a picture while installing. I purshased them from Jim and they fit fine. Be carful separating the brake drum from the hub the lugnuts are rolled over to hold the drum to the hub. It was easy to just cut the studs off and grind them flat to the drum and then press the heads out. Have fun!!
