Default New 63 Lemans Project

Well since my Pete is in the paint shop, and I am waiting for sheet metal parts for my 62 GP, we decided to drag in the 63 Lemans that I got from Jerry (C5Farmer) a couple of weeks ago.

We took a vote and it looks like it will be Pro Street Gasser, if there is such a thing. I really didn't know what exactly I was going to do with the car until I took a good inventory of it.

But after looking everything over, and dragging out some parts I had under the bench,a narrowed, built 9" and some wheels and tires that I have had for a couple of years, it looks like I will finally get to use these parts.

The width of the rear and the BS on the 15x14 wheels comes out EXACTLY perfect for the width of this car, I literally could not have been better had I built the rear for this car.

I guess some days things just come together. LOL Some pics,

I had the pleasure of meeting Transporter (Stan) yesterday as he came East for the holidays. Thank you again for the trunk pan - see you again in Norwalk!

Thx 60man, yeah it's an oldie but a goodie, beats the hell out of working around the "arms" on my other lift.

As soon as we get the door openings braced, and the rockers in, we will weld the back half and tubs in and add the front frame rails. Then it's off to the blasters, and then onto the rotisserie to finish up floors and bodywork.

You got yourself a nice project. The more I see these 63's the more I want one. Looking forward to watching your build.

Thanks Mike, just seems like right now it is taking a ton of time to get everything laid out and old/bad sheet metal stripped away. As usual, after you get the paint scrapped off things look a little worst than thought.

After we get the back half tacked in things should start moving along better. But we ARE wanting this car done in time for Norwalk, so at some point things need to start coming together.

Got quite a bit done today, rocker tubes installed, had to widen the rear clip 1.25" found centerline on rear wheel houses and located front 4 link crossmember. Located front factory spec holes and set crossmember square off of them.

Tom. will set tailpanel crossmember, and level rear tubes, finish all diagonal measurements and try and get front frame rails in. Pics
