1967 Bonneville Coupe on Bat - Engine Color?
There is a very nice mostly original Bonneville Coupe on BAT at the moment Here
https://bringatrailer.com/listing/19...-bonneville-6/ The engine looks to be mostly original, but the paint color seems to be the 1959-1965 Pontiac Blue, not the 1966-1970 Light Blue Metallic that I think it should be. It was brought up by another commenter that the full size cars had a different engine paint color than the A or F body cars. I have never heard of that the B body cars engines were painted a different color, and find it hard to believe. But I am not a full size car expert by any stretch. What do you think about it?

That engine is not original paint - you can see all the overspray on the rubber lines. The PCV system is all funky on that car too, the factory didn't leave that port on the manifold open like that. Makes me wonder how well it runs if it's truly open like that.
I attached an all-original 1967 Catalina 4bbl 400 no-AC motor and you can see the color of the paint the factory used. Same as any other Pontiac v8 that year, so the guys going on about color differences are not correct. I suspect the car had a head job 20-30 years ago and they painted the heads, intake, and valve covers to make it look pretty when they did it. For a long while Pontiac metallic blue wasn't readily available and only that 1959-1965 blue was so they probably just grabbed it off the shelf and used it. Almost all shops\people who aren't familiar with the paint situation does this. |

Here is the untouched low mile engine in my 69 Exec wagon. In general I'd say that the 67-70 Pontiac engine paint we all have used for years has too much silver and not enough aqua in it.

heat has a way of changing the new paint to a more silvery look.
But the paint on the 67 is just plain wrong(but easy to fix)
