Power Steering Gear Box Oops ... Adjuster Plug Spring
I was replacing the adjuster plug seals on the steering gear box in my 77 TA and I damaged a spring inside the plug. Believe it's a Saginaw 800 based on the link below.
https://leepowersteering.com/pages/h...entify-gearbox I was attempting to pull out the seal beneath the dust cover and accidentally ripped the small spring inside the adjuster plug out. It's damaged beyond repair. See pic. Spring is to the left of the plug and believe the retainer clip. You can also see where the spring was seated inside adjuster plug. See pic of inside adjuster plug. Anybody know where I can get this spring? I can't find it on any parts diagram on the web. Or do I need to just buy another adjuster plug? Any idea where I could get the adjuster plug? Or maybe just purchase a reman'd steering gear box? Any recommendations on a steering gear box? Calling Lee Power Steering in LA to see if they can help me out. Really pissed at myself. |

Disregard. This spring is inside the shaft seal not the adjuster plug. It came out of the old seal when I pulled it out. I didn't have my glasses on when I checked the new seal. Doh! A picture is worth a thousand words.
