Been reading through this...so then, the cars whereabouts from 1964-1967 are cloudy, as is how it got from Philly to Chicago in that timeframe?

I know the complete aluminum front end on this car , came from Bruce Fulper, as they were NOS parts! Bruce told me, that while at Randy's shop, he saw the old front end parts from this car, they were damaged. he tried to buy one of the fenders to hang on the wall, but, Randy wouldn't sell any of the pieces.

Stupid question for someone in the know - is this color considered Cameo Ivory? Looks like it is too bright to be Cameo Ivory. If someone can chime in and knows for sure the color code that is on this wagon I would appreciate it.

Cameo Ivory would be correct. It doesn't look too far off considering I'm looking at a digital pic. If it was shot next to a white 70 GTO you'd be able to tell a lot better.

Hmmmmm.
Three days. No answers. Just crickets chirping and tumbleweeds blowing by... Maybe somebody will start a thread over in the other section about Gartzman's '62 SD GP rebody, er, restoration.... |

I take it those hubcaps aren't just SD caps? Those look like the ones I pulled from a 62 Tempest. I posted a pic of one a few threads down, but they need some work to look that good.
Great looking car btw. Should have had it roped off to keep off the drool. I only other sdcar i've seen is the 62 Gp Sd, it was maroon, it saw it in Springfield Il at the Nats in the early 90's , I don't remember who had it maybe the Gartzman car? I'm sure there arent too many around.

No. They're hubcaps. They came on ANYTHING that didn't get full wheel covers.

Thanks for the pictures and info. Its nice to dream.Would have liked to been there when those car were thought of,it takes a car nut I guess.I talked to a guy in the south approx 10 yrs ago who has a collection that had a 63 SD(I think it was a Lemans) not a wagon but I could be wrong.I wanted to see it but he was vague,he did tell the story about finding the parts including the power shift trans.it wasn't Bill Blair.i told Pete this story and he said it was unconfirmed. he also told me he was from Akron back then and acquired the 63 Tin Indian swiss cheese car again unconfirmed but he seemed to have the knowledge and he had the $$$$$.The 62 Tin Indian is at last report in Pa. apart, I talked to the owner.

Provenance makes or breaks these types of cars, and this one has a huge hole in its history from 1964-1967.

I guess we'll never know what happened between 1964-1967, and how the car wound up in Chicago after being left in a Philly junkyard.

Hey, If an old Tempest race car can be dug out from a farmers ditch and then resurrected...
I would think anything is possible!
