My rims are 17 x 9. Tires are 245-45 up front and 285-40 rears NITTO NT555's. Your challange in the 17" diameter will be tire height. Mine are 26" but the stock 15" tire height in 1970 was about 26", later 2nd gen's were closer to 27".
My car is lowered about 1.5" in front and 0.75" rear. You could go with 255-50 17" tires as they are 27" tall and about 10.4" wide. Good Luck

I wanted to keep the 'traditional' look on my Formula with the period-correct 15" tires. I also wanted the ability to rotate my tires, so it was important for me to keep them the same size at all four corners. I went with a Corvette Rallye Wheel because they were cheap, could be ordered with any offset I wanted and would allow me to run the correct size tire/wheel combination until the car was finsihed and I could move up to Centerlines in the same sizing.
Whells are 15"x8" with 4.0" backspacing. Tires are 255/60/15's all the way around. I will be cutting 1 full coil off the front springs when I swap in the tubular upper and lower control arms to drop the nose down just a little...Robert |

This has been long overdue (installing the tires and posting the pics) .
Here is my 69 GTO. I like the look that ramairthreegto has on his 69 goat, so i did the same. No rubbing at all!! I might consider a taller tire in the front the next time.

Here's my car with brand new Firestones on restored 15" Rally II's. 255-60's on the rear and 235-60's on the front. I am pretty happy with the results.

I am with nkowi. I also added tubular upper control arms, poly bushings on stabilizer bars, solid body bushings, sub frame connectors, stiffer and lower springs, 17" rims (though not ghetto), 6-piston front and 4-piston rear discs with 12" slotted and drilled rotors, closer ratio and stiffer valved steering box.....
For me it is about handling. I love the original look of my car, hate its original handling characteristics. I do however also like the look of "67 LeMans 326" car. I would like to know the brake set up that fits under the 14x6 inch rims.
