Default Difference between 71 GTO and 71 Grand Prix steering columns

Is there any difference? I have a GP column here with tilt that I would like to put in my GTO, will the mounts be the same or could I take the brackets from the GTO and put them on the GP column and slide the sucker in. Just want to get the correct spacing between the column and the dash.

Thanks all!!!

I put a 69 GP tilt in my 70. I did this back in the 80's so I don't remember the details, but it fit and still works just fine. I just switched ignition switches. I'm sure there are a few differences, someone will have more info.

I used to have a tilt column from a 72 Grand Prix in my 71 GTO. If I remember correctly it was a simple bolt in swap. But trying to think back about 27 years.

Fairly sure mine was just a bolt in deal as well. I used a 69 gp tilt column in my 69 gto.

Is this the same for 70? Would love to have a tilt-column in my GTO, of course if I could find one.

It is in and works so sweet! The one thing that does not fit perfectly is the plug for the turn signals and such, flat plug with a bunch of wires in it. It will fit by the end of the day though.

What did you need to do to make the plug fit?
