Default Sandalwood question

For those with sandalwood interiors, when in original CLEAN condition, does it have a "mottled" look to the vinyl/soft surfaces?

I'm working on a 70 with sandalwood that hasn't been cleaned in 30+ years. I have one of the panels exceptionally clean, yet it appears to have slightly darker spots throughout the surface that I call "mottled". It could be deeply embedded dirt, but I can't quite tell.

Yes originally will have slightly darker, spots in vinyl. Very subtle. Whatever you do, don’t paint dash, steering column and kick panels the lighter color as door panels. These should be a little darker color

Ok, that's what I was hoping to hear. I didn't think I could get it any cleaner

Yes its evident the other parts (column, dash, etc) are darker. The dash has one crack in it, so far leaving it. Thought of trying the dash cover, but I think a company is out there that will recover the original dash. Do you happen yo know if the darker parts are saddle?

I believe theres actually a dark sandalwood which probably would go with the original sandalwood. My 70 gto is saddle with different interior parts and carpet dark saddle. And my door panels are also the mottled look.

Thank you that's helpful too.

I've been trying to search the correct color for the package tray. I don't know if it's sandalwood or the darker shade.

My gto has dark saddle carpet, dash vinyl, kick panels and rear package tray,,everything else is saddle. The door panels are saddle but the carpet on the bottom of the door panel is dark saddle.

Would this imply that the package tray was originally a shade darker? I can't find any info anywhere and I ordered samples from Ames.

The original one was removed and replaced with tan audio carpet.

My 70 is code 255 saddle but the original package tray was dark saddle. I had legendary make me a new one the same color.. Im assuming your rear tray would be dark sandalwood.

Hello all, I'm a bit late to this thread, but wanted to ask you all what color you think is my dashboard painted with? I've had this GTO for 19 years and the interior is original, as far as I can tell. I did replace the carpet with a Sandalwood color through Ames.
I'm assuming GM installed a darker color dashboard to make is less "glaring" in the sunlight while driving - I've seen Parchment interiors on other GTOs with a Black dashboard, probably for that same reason. Any insight as to what my dashboard color is will be appreciated. Note: ignore the A-pillar color in one of the photos. I painted it Sandalwood, thinking it was incorrect and, depending on what the dash color is, I will return it to the proper color.
I've also included a close up of the original seat color, where you can see that mottling that one of you asked about.
