Default 1971 GT-37 455 HO M22 3:55 12 bolt Posi with factory spoiler

I recently picked up this 12,000 mile from original owners family. Original owner had passed. He kept this car relatively private and I was lucky to get chance to buy. One of the most original cars I’ve ever seen or owned.

I had a detailer buff her out and get it cleaned up! I put my extra cragars wheels on it as the original tires had cracked and won’t hold air.

I also had to put on a new Gardner exhaust on it as original exhaust was not functional.

any idea how many GT-37s with 455HO and 4speed were made?
Im guessing 3.90 rear?
Did you save the old exhaust for patterns and reference?

That’s a spectacular find. I love the car and I love the cragars on it . That is exactly what it would have looked like in that period . Super cool !!! The colors are exactly what I’d want and the engine is great low compression big cubes high performance and drivable combo. Stock. . Great car. Thank you for sharing the pics really enjoy seeing it.

If I had that car I would have Gary riely dry ice the bottom
Of it he’s done a great job on so many cars . I think but not sure they use flood penetrol on the panels after . That’s what a lot of hot rodders use to keep patina fro. Getting worse on rat rods . I use fluid film on my RAIV car bottom but it doesn’t look pretty. My RAIV is soaked in fluid film to try and keep it as healthy as I can here in the north east..

I kinda like it the way it is too because it’s part of its story and they are only original once but a little clean up isn’t bad either. That car would clean up amazing underneath w the dry ice blasting.

Production of the '71 & '71 1/2 GT-37 equipped with the 455HO engine was 54

Long time associated production numbers by trans selection are estimated at:
34 Manual (M13 HD 3spd & M22)
20 Turbo 400

3.90 was a PONTIAC 8.2 10 bolt HD STT ratio in '71 & very rarely ordered in '71 Pontiac 400 4bbl performance A-body's (typ behind an M22).... 3.90's not factory avail in the 12 bolt. McKinnon assembled 12 bolts installed behind factory installed 455's & 455HO's in these cars carried either a 3.07, 3.31, or 3.55 gear ratio. Don't believe a documented airconditioned T400 '71 455HO T-37 or GT-37 has been discovered as of yet. Auto AC combination is where a 3.07 gearset would have been used.

Early owners that were class racing or local racing often had 4.10 or 4.33 gearsets installed as they were running much taller rear tires, often 29.5" tall 15" slicks. These owners also often converted their manual trans cars to T-400's or to 2.88 1st gear Power Brute T-10's.

I think I've seen that engine picture before...
And I like the look of the new Gardner exhaust. Did you keep the old exhaust or sell it to Eric?

Wow! Nice buy.

Never seen one with a white top. Love the color combo. Honeycombs would be cool.
