Baer track4 on 1973 GP wheel fitment
Put some Track4 4 piston with 13" rotor on my 1973 GP, but my 17x7 0 offset American Racing Torq Thrust II do not fit (which ironically were put on the car first for the BBK).
Doing some checking, seems 17s will be a hard fit. Any advice on which route to go? Sell the 17s and get 18s (will they clear?) or get more expensive 17s with better clearance? Ive searched and searched and do not see too much info on the track4s and pontiac. Anyone who has any insight, would love to hear, before doing a lot of trial and error. Thanks |

Is the wheel not clearing the calipers or is it a clearance issue with how the wheel is sitting in the wheel wells?
The torq thrust wheels have a fairly narrow inner hoop diameter. Corvette based brakes which the bear track 4 may be derived from typically do not fit them. There are other 17” wheels that will. However 17” tires are less abundant now and in many cases 18” tires may be cheaper. If you’re having to change wheels now I would upsize to an 18” for those reasons.

The bummer is I just got these wheels and tires, prior to the brakes, to be big brake ready. Did not factor this in. 17s will allow me to keep my new tires, but at this point I guess it doesnt matter too much. They are only 17x7s, which was a little narrow. What are some wheels to look at? Looking at weld solana (out if stock) or weld ventura 5. Was ttyinf to stay with the torq thrust 2s, but may not be an option |

Torq thrusts will not be an option. They are designed more for a stick type disc setup where the caliper is set inward from the mounting surface. Many of the Baer systems use components originally designed on the c5 corvette and caliper clearance becomes an issue.
Go to the Baer brakes website, find your brake system and look for the fitment guide. It will give you the dimensions necessary to make sure the set of wheels you end up with will fit properly.
