Default replacing front suspension on 72 LeMans

I'm going to change my front suspension next weekend. I was looking things over today and I see one potential problem. It looks like the steering shaft will be in the way when taking the upper control arm off on the drivers side. Is this an issue or will it come out? If it is an issue I was thinking that maybe loosening the steering gearbox and sliding it over a little may allow enough room. Or is there another work around?

Ended up not being an issue. Some dumbass used an impact on the studs in the past so the knurled section on the studs were gone and the studs just poped right out.

Yup, that's how I do it, pop the forward bolt out.

If it's really sloppy, you can use a punch and dimple the area around the hole to tighten it up some. If it's really bad, you might not have much of an effect dimpling.

If it is super bad, the control arm can move around some, changing alignment, but if it is that bad you can weld a bead around the hole and beat on the weld a little before it cools off.

Another option could be to go to a metric bolt, but I haven't ever needed to try that.
