Default 68 wheel opening moldings

Did all 68’s come with wheel opening moldings?

Were they part of a group or package? Which cars got them?

I believe all GTOs had them. It was part of the appearance package as standard on 242 models. Tempest and LeMans could get them as options.

Maybe I am thinking of the rocker moldings.....now I have to check my book. Pretty sure wheel openings are standard as well.....

I believe there was a separate trim package. I do not know groups or package numbers.

I know that all of the GTO's got both the wheel opening moldings as well as the rocker moldings. I recently got a 68 Firebird that didn't have them on it and didn't know if it was supposed to have them or not. Thanks.

Thanks, I have not been able to find a reference to them in any of the factory literature I could find. My car does not have the deluxe trim package or many other options at all so I wonder if it was built without them?

They came with the Custom Option W54/554. I don't see a separate code to order them but suspect some owners had them dealer installed.

According to the literature I have in my library, the wheel opening moldings are standard equipment for GTO.

Are we talking about a GTO here or some other model? I can provide the pages for the other trims if needed. All found in this great book I came across many years ago. Never been able to find another copy anywhere....

Since this is the '67-69 Firebird' section, I would assume this is for a Firebird.

I am asking about a 68 Firebird. I was not clear in my original post. I posted the question in the 67-69 Firebird section but did ask a rather vague question. Thanks.

I'm not positive about 68 but 69 I believe the wheel opening trim, the rocker mouldings and the roof rail trim( coupe) came as the deluxe trim package. It may have included some more stuff but I can't remember. I'm pretty sure the trim package is separate from the deluxe interior package.
