Default 72 seatbelt tag color

Are the seatbelt date tags white or green/blue on a 72 bird with custom interior ?
Also do 72 custom interior belts use retractors or belt sleeves ?
Thanks guys !!

It may depend on build date, but my January build '72 uses a plastic keeper in the middle and an elastic strap on the front end that connects to a coat hook to keep them tight. The tags are light bluish green.

1) white w/ black letters/numbers...
2) both. just depends on the build date. sleeves first, then retractors...
3) all above is as far as I know per My car....

Default Build date

Looks like my build date is 12A if I'm reading the tag correctly. So would this be a retractor or sleeve seat belt set and build date tag color still be white ?
Thanks in advance !!

This thread should be helpful.

The Black Car has no sleeves or retractors, and never did. I think you either had plastic keepers and elastic for the shoulder belt with no lap belt retractors, or sleeves for the shoulder belts with lap belt retractors. Not sure what the changeover date might have been, but clearly '72 had both arrangements.

Stupid question guys. I just sent my seatbelts off to Snake Oyl today and need to know my build date. If my cowl tag says 12A what does this date actually mean ?
Thanks !!

It means the body was assembled in Dec., "week" A (1st-7th).
A seat belt would have been manufactured before this point, by approx. 3-4 weeks. So approx. 45C71 date code (45, 45th week/C, is an arbitrary letter based on the line who sewed the assembly/71, year of assembly).

The Black Car was built at Norwood. Body build date 12B and ship date of January 11, 1972. The seat belt tags are bluish/greenish and are coded 48A71. No sleeves or retractors.

seems like there were several mid year changes in '72. My car had a build date of 12A and custom seat belts with white tags, date was 46C71 on them. My cars shipping date was 12-09-71

After Jan 01, the exploding belts, and seat belt buzzer came into effect. Bobs car has the '71 style belts still, but has the beginings of the seat belt warning with the later style gauges with the warning light at bottom. Under the carpet on a seatbelt warning car is a spaghetti mess of yellow wires.
Often changes made at the calendar year mark were DOT related ( Great example of this is a 68 Firebird. One made Dec 31, 1967, has NO shoulder belts, but on Jan 02, 1968 the car was Mandated to have shoulder straps, so they have them)
