Default Wanted: Sprint Y-Pipe

Anybody have a decent specimen laying around they'd like to get rid of? Thanks in advance.

Either one would be fine. NOS would be nice but not sure I could afford it

OK here is the only one I have, from a 1969 Tempest Sprint in good overall condition as it is low mileage as when I bought the car in 1976 it was in the trunk as it had headers installed in the 1st year or so after it was built.

$100 shipped to you if you are in the lower 48 states and I am not shipping to a PO Box.

After much digging, I have been able to identify at least 3 different Sprint Y-Pipes... 66-67 (all) appear to be the same. 68-69 Firebird and 68 Tempest/Lemans had a different spacing between the front and rear connections (only 1/4" difference) which would explain the trouble fitting an aftermarket unit... The manifold that Jeff posted earlier in this thread looks to be a 69 only Tempest/Lemans manifold and y-pipe assembly. Look at how much longer the rear port on that manifold is compared to the earlier manifolds. I found a place called Waldron's exhaust that manufactures new units for the F-bodies and their 67 unit seems to be the one that will match up to the manifold that I have.

Jeff, I am going to send them the unit that I got from you so that they can make a template and hopefully start making new exhaust systems for the 69 Tempest/Lemans. After they're done, I'll get them to send this one back to you as it seems the manifold/y-pipe combo that you've got is a very rare bird...

Thanks for all of the help on this guys as I certainly learned a lot about the differences in this 4 year only run of engines!

Learned something new, I never actually messed with the Y-pipes as I always either ran headers, or put duel exhaust on the split manifolds.

Yes that Y pipe came off of a 69 Manual trans Sprint Tempest, It was a factory 4-speed car with a Muncie M20 trans. I don't think they made 50 of that model. I wish I would have known how rare it was when I bought it in 1975, I may not have drove it like a teenager and in Michigan winters. It is long gone now.

I was aware of parts number changes but never compared any of the spacing between years.
Mainly due to always dealing with '66-'67 I guess.
I would think a little heat could make adjusting for a 1/4" difference would be possible?

IIRC the last image is/was an aftermarket offering, but I don't have it noted.
