Of course Samsung is going to tell you that. Happy to hear you can fix it with advice from the PY members here.

More gremlins. Started out with 1 white dot, now I have 100+ dots.
Do I need another $150 bulb or is it something else.

Thats more than likely the DMD board. Somewhat common issue with certain models in certain years. It may be worth a call to Samsung on this. They may blow you off but it's worth a shot. The part isn't too bad ( around $150-$200 ) and replacement isn't too difficult if you are patient but I don't think you wanna go that route. By any chance, earlier in this thread I posted a link to a recall, does your set have that symptom? If so, that recall may get you more favorable results

Best go ahead and ship 'er to Springfield, IL...I'll PM you my address!
All kidding aside I would like to know just where the heck it is here in town that you'd be sending it...I am unaware of any local service facility.

I have 1 of the model#s but the recall refers to a "shadow" problem or light tunnel problem.
I have a bunch of tiny stars all over the screen & they are multiplying.

Yea my thinking is try to get the recall. They won't be able to diagnose until they fix the real problem.

I had the same problem with my Toshiba DLP. Was told the problem was in the light tunnel.

1337 Wabash...what business was name was it? Beatty Televisual or Henry's Appliances? The only two possible I know of in that area. Both are good.

I had a mitsubishi DLP tv and it worked pretty well for a few years. The bulb blew and after we swapped the bulb a couple of times trying to get it to work i figured out that it was probably something called a "ballast board" which was sold out everywhere and not available. I cracked it open out of curiosity and found it full of fans and other mechanical stuff that would eventually fail even if i had replaced the ballast board. Bad design.

I cut it up with a chainsaw so it would fit in the trash and replaced it with a 60" samsung LCD.
