Anyone had an aluminum intake ceramic coated?

I was thinking of having mine done inside & out.

Please revert w/ y'alls pros & cons concerning the same.

I know the exterior would be better looking & present less maintenance. Concerned if doing the interior would make it too smooth to propogate proper fuel suspension.

Many people do both. Most that I have heard of do it with EFI so that the "smoothness" doesn't hurt atomization. I have read some amazing articles by David Vizard that claim that air intake temps can be significantly reduced by having a thermal barrier coated on your intake.

I would do just the outside if I used a carb. But, you should call the coater to see what they say. They may ba able to apply the coating with a texture to similate the actuall aluminum texture.

Just a note, some classes of drag racing prohibit coated intakes or asses and added wieght penalty for having an intake coated. Its a good way to hide port work in classes that aren't supposed to have any.

Hey G'man, who ya' callin' an asses?

Just f'in w/ ya'! Scott's not around to correct us anymore.

this application will be TBI, so I'm thinking I'll do it. The cooler intake charge is a good perspective.

A fellow Outlaw racer by the name of Jack Pumphrey Jr. had his intake Jet-Hot coated. Don't know about performance gaisn (if any) but it looks nice and is less succeptible to stains from fuel, etc. and it appears to be easier to keep looking "clean" than a polished manifold would be.

I really like the natural cast look but hate stain from fuel, and oil.

I had power-coated my OHC6 Sprint Intake (inside and out) with Pontiac Metallic Blue...or something real close to that. Just wanted the outside done but the powder gets in pretty good on that intake.

The durable looks were substantially better than paint. I would say the motor definitely looked faster.

LOL Larry, I do miss the spell check feature of the old board, but that's about it.

HIS, who has the "close to Pontiac metallic blue" color?
That would be too cool! At least good for 25HP (look factor).
