US Nats
Out of all the Pontiac powered Stock & SS cars that were left, looks like Casey McCarty has the only one that survived E-2.
https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...er=30#indextop According to the schedule, looks like it'll be well into the afternoon before SS E-3. https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...er=30#indextop Last edited by ponyakr; 09-05-2020 at 11:00 AM. |

For some reason I haven't thought to look at Super Gas.
Doug Kroft & Tim Gillespie have survived 2 rounds. https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r=100#indextop |

Daggumit! I knew I was in trouble when I let go of the button in the Quarterfinals.
It was good to see Kevin and family. It was awesome to see him make the final of the All-Stars at The US Nationals!

Jason, what motor have you got in there? I saw you ran a good mph. I stopped by your pit in Bowling Green but you weren’t there. Hate I missed you.

Bowling Green was crazy. Laura showed up the day after we had a epic water fight with some super street racers out in the grass. It took me till Wednesday in Indy to finally get dried out. It was great to finally talk to you in person. Hope you have a killer 2cnd half to your season!

From National Dragster:
Tim Gillespie’s very rare perfect run in Super Gas There were more than 3,600 runs made at this year’s Denso Spark Plugs U.S. Nationals but only one of them was perfect. During Sunday morning’s third round of Super Gas eliminations, Tim Gillespie of Xenia, Ohio threw down an unbeatable run when he left with a perfect .000 reaction time and then stopped the timers with an equally flawless 9.900 on the 9.90 Super Gas index. Ironically, Gillespie didn’t need to do either of those things after his opponent, Bill Jackson, had already left a red-light hanging on the starting line. Gillespie went on to lose a tough race against Jacob Elrod in round five, but he did return from Indy with a time slip that is suitable for framing.

Div 1 & 6
Well, Earlville is actually in div 5. Anyhow, there is a race at Earlville & one at Numidia. Assuming there will be some Pontiacs @ Earlville. Maybe the Warling bros & Scott Burton from CO. Since the season has been shortened, I figure there will be racers there from div 3, 5, & 6. We'll see.
https://www.facebook.com/nhrad5/ Well, I tried to link just the race flyer, but couldn't. Here's a link to live timing. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it don't. https://www.nhra.com/results/2020/lu...es/d5/20200911 They got rained out Fri @ Earlville. Still rain in the area this morning. Weather looks good for Sun. Here's a link to the DRTV coverage for today. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H1ZazYukIj0 The race @ Numidia is called the Class Racer Nationals. It's $5k to win in both Stock & SS. 2 races. 1 Sat & 1 Sun. https://www.numidiadragway.com/wp-co...8/IMG-3857.jpg Here's at least a partial list of names of racers that are supposed to be there. http://classracer.com/classforum/sho...03&postcount=1 Names connected to Pontiac powered cars, in the past, which I see on that list are: Bill Kennedy, John Agneta, Phil Monteith, Duane Hoven, & Dylan Biondo. But, you never know who might be driving what. Last edited by ponyakr; 09-12-2020 at 09:49 AM. |

Class Racer Nats
Here's a couple of pics that were just posted, from Numidia.
The 1st pic shows 2 Hatari cars. I assume that's Phil Monteith hookin up the extension cords. I think John Agneta will drive the red car & I assume Phil will drive the white car. The 2nd pic is of the Chad Smith Stocker, which is the former Paul Dilcher car. |

Class Racer Nats
It was just posted that Sal Biondo will drive the white Hatari & Sean Pickett will drive the red one.
http://classracer.com/classforum/sho...4&postcount=33 Looks like they MIGHT get in a round of qualifying at Earlville. http://classracer.com/classforum/sho...92&postcount=6 In the 1st pair of S/ST cars was Ron Walk, in a '70 Lemans with 455 Pontiac power. Not familiar with name or car. Anybody have info ? Last edited by ponyakr; 09-12-2020 at 02:47 PM. |

Div 5
Just watched Stock qualifying. Only 2 Pontiac powered cars made a pass. They were both '74 Venturas. Brad Koivisto has changed his GTO over to a flat hood Ventura. Denny Nelson still has his in GTO trim.
Brad ran 11.26, in H/SA, good enuff for # 17 position. Denny ran 11.70, in J/SA, which put him in #40 position. Don't have a pic of Denny's GTO or Brad's Ventura, in their current state. Maybe somebody there will post a pic of both. Bill Rink had the only Pontiac powered car to make a pass in SS Q-1. He ran a 10.705, in SS/MA. Saw 2 Pontiac powered cars in S/ST Q-2 . Ron Walk's car was actually listed as a '70 Tempest, with a 455 engine. Michael Vitamvas Sr. was listed driving a '72 GTO. But, it was either a '66 or '67, & listed as having a Pontiac 474 engine. Not familiar with either car or driver. In Stock Q-2, Brad ran a little quicker, @ 11.234. Denny didn't improve any. Last edited by ponyakr; 09-12-2020 at 06:49 PM. |

John Agneta posted this.
" phil owns white agneta pickett red. Hatari racing 428 white car 400 red car " I assume this to mean that Phil Monteith owns the white Hatari 4th gen, but John Agneta & Sean Pickett own the red 4th gen. Also assume that means that the red car has a Phil Monteith built Hatari Racing Pontiac 400 engine. I think it has 6X heads. Not absolutely certain. |

Here are the DRC Q-lists.
In Stock, Brad Koivisto ended up at #17, & Denny Nelson at #47. https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...er=30#indextop Bill Rink's '74 GTO was the only Pontiac powered SS car, & it was #1 qualifier ! https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...er=30#indextop Here's the link to DRTV race coverage for today. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vtVPEcqb-Zg Last edited by ponyakr; 09-13-2020 at 08:08 AM. |

Watched the 1st rounds.
Brad Koivisto survived Stock. Bill Rink survived SS. The early GTO survived S/ST. Also watched the 2nd round of S/ST. The GTO lost. So, I suppose the two '74 GTO's of Brad & Bill are the only Pontiac powered cars left, in this race. They just ran Stock E-2. Brad left way too early. So Rink has the only Pontiac left. He got the E-2 bye. If Rink wins next round, I'll post it. If not, that's all from Earlville. Last edited by ponyakr; 09-13-2020 at 02:01 PM. |

The Class Racer FB page has lots of pics, plus video & Q-sheets from this race.
https://www.facebook.com/pages/categ...9441468406709/ If I understood the live feed announcer correctly, Dylan Biondo is going to the semi-final in Stock & Sal Biondo is going to the semi-final in SS. Last edited by ponyakr; 09-13-2020 at 02:30 PM. |
