Question '64 water pump question?

Need some help. I bought a pump from the H2Opumpman on ebay p/n 9772716 (it's the nice looking primered one in the picture). After removing the pump on my engine I noticed it's quite different from this 9772716. The 9772716 impeller vains are shorter and are curved in the oposite direction. Is this correct? Will it work? Thks Tim

is it correct? no, it does not match. Will it work? maybe, but not as good as your old impeller.

Engineer, when I asked if it was correct, I ment to say is this the original pump as provided on a '64 gto. After going through all 44 pages of the "chalk one up for cast impeller" thread, I found a couple of guys that had these short, oposite direction impellers. So, yes I believe the pump above to be an orignal '64 remanufactured pump. I also have the orignial timing housing and orignial aluminum divider plates. The question is will this combination work?

The pump I pulled off my engine looks to be a standard aftermarket variety.

FYI, I went with the original pump, 9772716 (the primered one), with my original '64 timing cover and original '64 al divider plate. I dropped 10deg F (from 200 to 190) in all conditions (sitting at lights and cruizing down the road). I think most get into trouble when they start mixing and matching all the different pieces from different years, etc.... My cooling system is as it left the factory now and it works!
