Default Brake Light Switch

I'm helping a friend with restoring a 65 GTO conv with A/T & PB. . Does the brake light switch require threaded thin flat nuts or are there suppose to be barbs that hold it in place?
Thanks for great website.

I remember a spilt insert that the switch threads into , they don’t give you a new one when you buy the switch. Kinda hard to find.

I thought the switch metal bracket was made to let you screw the switch in or out. Normally you can adjust the switch by holding the brake pedal where you want it to start braking and push the switch to that position. No screwing in or out. Just push it to the pedal. Just what I remember. That was factory. I do not know about after market.

Thought that was part of the bracket. Not sold separately.

Post #4 shows a round split clip that has 3 barbs. Our barbs were broken. Ordered new one and installed it.
