I just bought a 69 Lemans and really enjoy driving it. All my friends tease me about it 'cause its old, but the more I drive it, the more I fall in love with it. It really drives well. Well I better get to my question, Why is it that everytime I turn my heater on, I get warmth, but after I've been driving for a while I have this "dirt in the mouth" taste. I live in socal so its really never cold out here but my girl complains if the temp gets down to 60. I hate when she complains about my Pontiac, It really makes me mad!

if it has a sweet smell and fogs the windows you have a heater core that's leaking.

You probably have a build up in the duct work. Pull it apart and clean everything. My 68 Firebird did the same thing.

Check the heater core for leaks.
Clean out the ducts.

If you have small pieces of foam on the floor or seats it is from the heater seals, if you have any drips on the passenger floor or steam on the windshield it is a leaking heater core, or you could just have musty air ducts. It is easy to remove the ducts from under the dash, that is if you do not find any other problems. Socal has a lot of girls so Fix the car and worry about the girl later
