No I did not. We just went for the swap meet and show. I took it to the POCI Nationals in Murfreesboro a few weeks ago and did well with it. I really have only shown it a few times. Still working on getting everything right. Need to pull the motor and put the correct block in the car. I only need a 273 carb and 941 distributor to have it complete. I have a 68 carb (GTO 4 speed 263) and distributor on the car now just not RA II.

I would like to find out more history about the car. I have noticed a lot of high performance Pontiacs were sold out of Seltzer Pontiac in Chicago. Several of the early Super Duty cars on display were from Seltzer as well as Jim Mattisons 68 RA II GTO. I did a "deep dive" on Mattisons car when it was at Mecum this year. It has changed hands twice since he owned it.

Maybe it will be ready for next year. It is just over 1,000 miles one way for me. I have raced at that track several times in the past.

I have never owned one but find them intriguing. I particularly liked the Plum Mist 67 Lemans with white top and parchment interior. Very similar color combo to my 67 GTO. Also liked the 68 Tempest Custom convertible. I have a Tempest Custom in Meridian Turquoise also. However it has a few more cubic inches than the cammer (501 to be exact).

Fred Simmonds 4 door OHC Sprint is always a treat to see. So unusual. He founded a car club in Orlando back in the 80s that I attended all their shows.

Maybe someday I will get a chance to drive one and see how I like it.

My very first car was a 68 Firebird Sprint 3-speed manual. Decades later, probably the most similar vehicle/engine combination I have owned was a Datsun 240Z. Similar engine feel, torque and sound. I still remember today how easily the Pontiac would rev to 6000-6500 RPM. It surprised many of my HS friends with their SBC 2 bbl. cars and small block Ford 289-302 2 bbl engines.
