I asked about the rear end you're looking for on another site I belong to. If I get any replies I'll let you know.

Good luck, NYH1!

Isn't the '71 rear end a little wider then the '69 rear end?

I may be taking the rear out of my 69 bird this winter. It was rebuilt 3 years ago and has maybe 10000 mi on it. It is a 3.90:1 ratio. However it is a 67 rear, do you need a 1969 rear or just one to fit a 69?

after taking a good look at my rear and the condition of it and the 3:23 gear that is in it I am just going to add a posi unit to it so my need have changed to just needing a 8.2 posi unit

No problem, don't have one of those.

Default Width question

I replaced a 69 non-posi 8.2 with a 79 or so corporate 8.5. The perches are different, but the axle width was identical. I would assume the 71 is the same.

The driveshaft will have to be cut down about 1 1/2 inches, too.
