Very nice!!!
I can't imagine it not having the 455 engine..
Things to think about...you could have one of those unusual Quadrajets with the 3rd primary metering Rod. Those carbs can be a nuisance if they have a problem. But Cliff will have the answers, if needed.
The catalytic converter should not be a problem, but it is old...if it's not needed, I'd make a straight pipe to replace it...
I'm just going thinking out loud here, hope you have no problems. Hope you post more pictures, and tell more about the car!!!

Again, congrats on a cool car!!!

Rotated for clarity:

The spare tire delete is interesting - I assume there was a shortage at the factory at the time.

Looks very well kept. Low-ish option count for a mid 70’s bonneville. Those “economy” 400-2bbl engines become more popular after the late 73 OPEC gas squeeze.

That is a great looking Bonneville!

I wonder if the spare tire Delete (to be provided by to the dealer later) was a MPG trick? But as previously stated it was probably a shortage at the plant issue.

In those years when power was down so much from previous years I think there were two ways to deal with the power shortage... one was to order the biggest possible engine even if you weren’t a performance guy because you wanted at least safe and comfortable power for highways etc or the opposite way of looking was to give up and get the smallest engine possible since they were all slow anyhow.

I recall many friends who fell on either side of the thought process.

The 400 2bbl in 76 was standard on the base Bonneville (the 400 4bbl was standard on the Brougham). The 2bbl was rated 170 horse, the 4bbl was 185 and the 455 (4bbl) was 200.

With the high weight and long legged axle ratios of these cars 170 horse was iffy but just pulling the Cat and installing duals would give you an easy 20 horse

One of my fellow Pontiac enthusiast's sold Pontiacs while he was going to Engineering school. He sold them from 1970 till 75, I think. He bought a new 68 GTO, it was void of options. He raced it a lot. He for some stupid reason (his words) ., ordered a new 73 Gran Prix, traded the GTO against it (OMG!). The general consensus was since 455 "D" port engines were such poor performers, that a 400 would be a better choice. He ordered his GP with a 400.....

He just sold his GP to a classic salvage yard. He lost his lease at a storage place and had 15 cars that had to go places.
The amount of cars he still has makes you 2 guys stuff look insignificant..(not knocking either of you, he just has too much stuff).

Oh my. Some rural folks outside of the small Eastern Iowa town I lived in, growing up in the 60's had one exactly like your Moms. It was black, very nice. They dropped it off at my Dad's Skelly station for some work..
I innocently asked Dad, if we could put the rear glass down...he quickly replied, no way. What if it won't go back up...I understand his thinking better, these days!!!
