The gauge project basically spun off a refresh of the interior. Got most of it back together today and finally got to sit behind the wheel with the view that I've been after since I got the car in '91: custom sport steering wheel, rally gauges, rally clock, hood tach and no aftermarket stuff.
I had an Autometer tach on the column until I painted the car a few years ago and added the hood tack and oil and temp gauges under the dash since I got the car. It's nice to finally clean things up!

Disconnect it from the ignition switch. It prevents to gauges from pegging themselves while starting the car.
Pete outlined the process for '69/70 here: http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...98&postcount=7

Drop the column by removing the 2 nuts and one bolt on the bracket on the underside of the column. You don’t need to drop it much to get things out.
There’s not really a trick to removing the dash, it’s just a PITA. This thread breaks the process down pretty well: http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...95#post5531895

Yeah, that thread pretty well covers it. Basically, the 'trick' to pulling the speedo is that the instrument panel has to come out.
