*UPDATE*

Made yet another trip down state to go over emblem progress, 3rd prototype has been produced, 3rd attempt photo attached. Fits the bumper profile beautiful top, bottom and both sides. Getting close to finalization. Real happy how this is coming together. I have fit #3 on three different factory 400 bumpers and each of them produced the same fit finish results, real pleased. Some liberties have been taken on the B side to help pilot the emblem. The bumpers clearance holes are very generous in size and the original emblem had plenty of real estate to move around so we revised the prototypes bosses to fit much better, and it does. In the attachment photo the emblem is just resting on the bumper, no fasteners are in place. The business that I am working with has been a real pleasure thus far, very passionate about what they do, pride and reputation comes to mind. Stay tuned.

Love it. Appreciate your work on this.

Sell me the NOS emblem when you are done using it for this project

The NOS emblem used for reference on this project has failed miserably in the box, it has multiple cracks all over. For a new, never installed or exposed to the elements emblem it has failed miserably. The/this first generation Urethane or whatever they used back in 69 did not fare well over time but in GM's defense, it served its purpose, was never expected or intended to survive this long I am sure.

Awesome job ! So pleased to see this coming together.
Can’t say enough, how much I appreciate you putting the work into this project.
Such a great contribution to the preservation of 69 Pontiac firebirds, to get this correct. It’s quite often the first thing people will see

*UPDATE*

Well folks, Another trip down state last week but oh so worth it.

Today is a monumental day, the emblem is physically complete, the final version that is, and I am delighted to share with you the end results. The fit and finish is fantastic. The emblem is just resting naturally on the bumper, no fasteners installed in any of the pictures, the fit is that nice. Currently working on U.V. tolerant colors. The finish line is clearly on the horizon.

*As a side note; this reproduction fits much nicer than the NOS emblem used for partial reference..

Backside of bumper, emblem/bumper engagement. Note: emblem bosses have been enlarged to fit bumper clearance holes much better than OEM for improved self vertical positioning. The OEM emblem with it's smaller diameter bosses had/has a lot of real estate in the bumper for misalignment and movement even when snugged up.. Not a known problem but the potential is /was there.

Will you be testing how they hold up from cracking due to extremes of Heat / Cold?

Tensile Modulus (GPa) is 2.4
Tensile Stress at yield (MPa) is 40
Tensile Stress at break (MPa) is 37
Tensile Strain at break (%) is 25
Flexural Strength (MPa) is 71
Heat Deflection Temp (Degree C) is 145

I have had the emblem installed on an OEM front bumper for several days up against the house vinyl siding in the sun where the heat is the most intense that I have for multiple hour testing for signs of failure and warpage, I have not experienced either. I also have a heat gun and laser temp gun for temperature confirmation as well if the clouds roll in. I currently have another emblem in our chest freezer, all is well thus far.

The resin has very good chemical resistivity and high heat tolerance which also provides very good surface finish.

Outstanding work. Really appreciate your time and effort to bring this emblem to birth.
Thanks so much
