Thanks, interesting side note, I owned car #82 (35k miles) and it was a T-top 6-speed car and the coupe handles much better than the T-top car. The difference was night and day.

I'm also open to reasonable offers.

Mike

My 95 Firehawk is a hardtop and I agree 100%. My 02 Firehawk felt sloppy until I put subframe connectors on it.

That is a really, really nice Comp and would totally fit the bill. The potential $3k+ shipping coast to coast sure adds a premium though.

There is a really nice '97 for sale in Oshkosh, WI. It is a black 6 s[eed with very few miles. The body is straight and chrome rims are completely free of pitting. I think the price is around $12,500.

Default Get an LS

I’ve had my 94 TA GT since new, November 1993. Shoulda sold it in 2001 and got a new one with the LS. So much cheaper to make MORE POWER, the aftermarket is frozen for LT parts, no development for years.
Spend the premium on the 98+

My $0.02

I'm currently working with mmarx to pick up his Comp T/A

I know the LS cars are probably the better bet all around, but I just can't get over my soft spot for the LT cars and this one is just so nice!

I looked at this '00 over the weekend and it was not as advertised which steered me back towards the Comp.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/38503860499...kAAOSwmf1i6Hte

Broken dash, cracked door panels, broken a/c and radio. Not to mention the goofy AutoMeter tach. New rear tires and shorty headers were a clue that the 12k miles were hard ones. We were pretty far apart on what I was willing to give and what they wanted ($25k).

Having owned a few of the 4th Gen cars, I recommend programing the ECU to turn the cooling fans on earlier on the LT cars.
They are wholly reliant on the lower air dam ( under the car) to get air to the radiator, so that has to be 100% there and working.

That's a unique color for the Formula - and a convert! Can't be too many of those.

That is a very unique color- is it a 94?

We have a 97 Formula WS6 convertible as well. It’s amazingly fast for what it is. I bought it from a used bmw dealer where it was traded in. It had faded paint and the top had been replaced in black instead of tan. I had my buddy paint it and put a set of 94 Firehawk wheels on it to replace the 16”s the convertibles got.

Just a fantastic car to drive- and pretty rare.

Based on the taillights, I'm going to guess that's a 98-02.

Convertibles are really hard to find, especially the early ones, especially a Formula. The '93-'94 Firehawk wheels are probably my favorite. I love the Comp T/A styling, but I'm not crazy about the Speedline wheels. Ironically, I'm getting an extra set with this car.

There's '97 T/A convert 6 speed on eBay that I took a hard look at. It has ram air, but doesn't have WS6 badging and has 16" wheels. Were converts treated differently?

Yes, 16" wheels only and I don't think the WS6 option was available for convertibles. With Firehawks, the optional "level II suspension" wasn't available either.

My green convertible is a factory WS6 car. One of 42 convertible Formulas with the option.

I believe all convertibles came with 16” wheels- at least on the LT cars

The 98+ taillights look so much better- I have them on my 94 and 95

My 2002 WS6 convertible came with 17” wheels.

By that time the WS6 package was really nothing more than Ram Air induction, upgraded exhaust (2-3/4” single instead of standard 2-1/2”) and the 17X9” wheels. No actual suspension upgrades like the earlier WS6 cars.

14k mile ‘97 WS6 6-speed in Nebraska. I should stop looking at these things now that I’ve got one on the way.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/304587825480

My friends are giving me crap about buying an LT1 car, but the more I read about them more interesting I find them. I came across this old HPP article about the development of the Comp T/A that traces it from a Tirebird concept car Jim Mattison put together. I love this kind of trivia even if it comes with the optispark.
